Black Manor | 18th December 1985 | 8 AM

The next day, Charlus woke up and the first thing he noticed was a bird on the perch in his room. "Ronko! What are you doing?" Charlus recognized the bird. It was the Little Owl that hatched out of the egg his uncle Remus had given him. The bird heard Charlus, and it flew towards him. It rested on the thick blanket that was covering Charlus while he was laying in bed. Charlus didn't want to get up, because he felt very lazy. In his mind, true vacation was when he could sleep for the whole day.

An hour later, a small kid popped into the bedroom. It was Harry. He ran to Charlus' side, but he didn't jump onto the bed. He was afraid that the bird would get hurt. Ronko was almost 6 months old, and a normal Little Owl would be halfway to adulthood. This bird, however, looked as though it was just a few weeks old.

"Charlus. The big sister left. What do we do today?"

Charlus was laying in his bed and simply said with a low sleepy voice, "Sleeeeeep."

Harry took it quite literally and climbed slowly onto his brother's huge bed and lay down beside him. Charlus didn't mind and even shared his blanket. They only woke up when their godfather came three hours later.

"Charlus, Harry. What are you doing? I didn't see you little buggers the whole day and- Why are you both still in bed!?"

Charlus and Harry both jerked and got up immediately from the bed. Ronko, who was resting happily, squawked and flew in the air. While it looked so young, it was still able to fly. The people in the house didn't care, but zoologists would be dumb-founded for centuries.

"We have guests in the house! Why aren't you ready?"

Harry and Charlus rushed out to get to the bathroom, but Sirius stopped them. He took out his wand and pointed it to them.

"Scourgify."

The boys suddenly became clean, as if they had just taken a bath. He then said, "Change into some proper clothes. I'm going to tell you about our guests. Dowager Longbottom is the mother of your godmother's husband. When you see her, call her grandma. Her grandson is Neville. He is your age, Harry."

Charlus and Harry were listening while changing into clothes from Charlus' wardrobe. Sirius was mainly talking to Charlus because Harry was too young to even try to listen and understand.

"Make sure you are very polite. These people are very good friends of your parents. Harry, when you enter Hogwarts, it will be very nice to have a friend beforehand so be friends with Neville. Okay?"

Harry nodded and the three went to the living room where the grandmother and grandson pair were. The pair were amused by the sight that greeted them. Charlus was well dressed, and he was clean because of the spell Sirius cast on the brothers, but Harry was a different story. He was wearing clothes two sizes more than him, so it looked like he was wearing his brother's hand-me-downs. They hung loosely off his skin, and if nobody looked closely at the clothes, they would think he was from a poor family. He was wearing casual dressing, made of a blend of normal cotton, silk, and Acromantula Silk, which was one of the finest materials found in the Wizarding world.

Augusta smiled at the brothers and said, "Why don't you play with Neville here. He will be accompanying you for this winter, so you can bond for all the time you missed since your godfather decided to hide you two and never bothered to tell anyone whether you were safe or not."

The last part of the statement made by Augusta Longbottom was directed at Sirius, and Augusta, though looking calm and serene, was very angry at him. The kids didn't understand the last statement, so they just went off to play. Augusta followed Sirius to talk over issues like Sirius' future involvement with the order and the likes.

Charlus and Harry dragged Neville to the one room with both loved very much - the toys room. It was filled with toys, games and puzzles from the Wizarding World, and the Muggle World alike. Neville was awestruck at the number of games the Black Manor held. He was not very shy, but he wasn't that conversive either. Charlus immediately went forward and brought out a game.

It was a board game called Snakes and Ladders. Neville had never heard of the game, but Charlus explained it to Harry and Neville. It was actually very simple. They just had to roll a single die and get through the board. If they landed at the bottom of a ladder, they would go up the ladder, but if they landed at the mouth of a snake, they had to go down to the tail. They played for an hour until Harry won the game. It was very long, and the competition was only between Neville and Harry. Charlus always got to the end, but then he would enter the final snake and come back all the way to the beginning. He got so frustrated the fourth time, he got up and left the room in anger.

When Neville and Harry were done with the game, they went to the dining room because they were hungry. Sirius was there along with Augusta Longbottom and Charlus. Sirius had just lectured Charlus on how it was not important to win, as long as he was having fun.

Neville and Harry sat down and the entire house had lunch. After a heavy potato centred lunch, Augusta left, citing that she had some work.

"I have to take care of the Manor. Neville, be a good boy. I will not come to see that you have misbehaved. Uncle Algie will come to pick you up on 7th January. Be on your best behavior. Sirius, please take care of my grandson. I hope nothing happens."

Augusta warned Neville and Sirius and left for the Longbottom Manor. After she left, Sirius smiled and said, "Ok! Now that she's gone and we have some guests, let's party!"
