Chapter 5: Night of terror

"In the chaos of destruction, trust can be the light that leads two strangers to survival."

[ Kotaku street, Twin peak City, Western District ]

One sunny day in the road of Kotaku street, Vins was taking something behind of a van, probably looting again. Fionna, the young lady with a brown curly hair, slim body, white skin, wearing a rounded glasses, a plain t-shirt, mini short, and rubber shoes.

"Again? What you taking there right now? Money again? I'm telling you, you can't use money in this world anymore!", she said while crossing her arms.

"Nah ahh! I got another gun!", Vins said while showing them a hand-gun with pink design on it.

Vins, a young man with black straight medium-thick hair, wearing a plain orange t-shirt, a black slacks, and rubber shoes. Suddenly, a young little girl appears behind Fionna, it was Chloe a young little girl with short and straight hair, wearing a t-shirt with flower symbol on its center, a mini skirt, and a cute pair of plain shoes.

'...they really look like a couple..', she mumbles,

"Its not gonna useful!! And its dangerous!!", Fionna said while trying to take the gun from him.

"Its not dangerous if the person know how to use it!! And i know how to use it!", Vins answer while trying to get the gun away from her hand.

Fionna got pissed, and she punch Vins again on the face, making him spin around and fell at the ground again. She grabbed her collar and lifted her, "Give me the gun—", suddenly a scream echoes in the whole street, they heard it and look infront of them.

"Welp mwueeeeee!!!!!!", a adult person scream while running towards them. "...you mean 'help me'..", they said.

"Hey!!! Don't come here idiot!!!", the three of them said while trying to signal the old man to not run towards them, because there's infecteds chasing him.

The old man jump on Vins, which makes the two girls shock, and their mouth was wide open(in comedic way). Vins doesn't have choice, he pull the gun and points it at the infecteds infront of them. Before they both fell, Vins quickly shoot the gun and hit all the infecteds that chasing the old man. "eekk!".

"Did he just...shoot using a gun?", Fionna said while her face said that she can't believe that Vins hit three infecteds. "...woah!".

Vins slowly get up, and dust off himself, he see Fionna was staring at him, and he just smiles.

"Told yah! Gun is every man's drea—", he was cut off when the old man stand up and tries to kiss him. "You swaveeee mwuee~!", Vins was startled and flinched a second.

"AAAAAAAHHH!!", his screams echoes.

On the road, the four of them is now continuing their way towards their destination. The old man was in relief and he was safe now, Vins on the other hand was frustrated because an old man just kisses him. Fionna and Chloe was laughing behind them.

"Thanks for saving me kid, i thought i'm gonna die earlier...", the old man said.

"...y-yeah...me..t-too...", Vins answer back with a shaking voice.

"...oh yeah, I'm Kentoki Ama! Nice to meet you three!", the old man introduce himself, he has a spiky high gold hair, bulky body, wearing a office uniform, and a leather shoes. He has beard and moustache too.

"...i am Vins, this is Fionna and Chloe behind us..", Kentoki can't believe that Vins and Chloe has a daughter even their so young.

"Wow, can't believe you have a daughter...despite your age huh..", he said.

"...no she's not our daughter...", Vins said.

"Eh? But...so you two are not couple?", Kentoki said back.

"...no were not..", Vins said while waving his hand.

"...no were not...and will never be..", Fionna said too while looking at Kentoki with a smile.

They continue walking until the road become so clear, vehicles are no longer in their front, which is a good opportunity for them to ride something.

"Anyway, Vins right? You didn't plan to...just walk right?", Kentoki ask.

"..of course no, i actually thinking of driving a van or RV...but sadly, i don't know how to drive..", Vins answer back.

"WAHH HA HA HA!!", Vins and the two girls behind was startled at his sudden laugh and behavior. Kentoki was laughing, and looks like he find his worth on this group.

"You are lucky to hit the jackpot! Because i can drive!! WAHHH HA HA HA!", he said and laughs once again.

The three youngish said together, "I have a bad feeling about this...", they said with a smiling normal face, with nervousness inside of them. After some hours of searching for suitable vehicle, and fixing it. Vins and Kentoki was infront of the van fixing it.

"...paradise? What the heck is that?", Vins ask, as the two of them was talking about a safe place called Paradise.

"Yeahh, you don't know about that? I heard it on the radio last night...that's why i plan to come out where i'm camping..", he said while trying to make the van start.

"...paradise huh...i wonder of its real..", Vins ask to himself.

"...hey kid, i'm gonna give you an advice..take them to that place, we don't know if its true...but its worth seeing right?", Kentoki smiles and gives him a thumbs up.

Vins look at the two girls who's preparing the van, he knows that they need a safe place to stay with, but is it really worth it to come there? How they can be sure that it was really safe? Is it even true? Vins doesn't know what to do, until the night has come. Vins is still awake, looking at the night skies, he keep thinking about the Paradise Kentoki was talking about earlier. He want to take those two in a place where they can live peacefully and safely. He sigh and was about to sleep, when suddenly he saw something on the window. Since its dark outside, he can't fully see it, but someone or something is walking outside. As he look closely, his eyes widened because the thing that moving outside, is a infected, and its not alone, because more infecteds are walking besides their van, like they're surrounded.

"What the f—Kentoki!! Wake up!!", Vins is shaking up the old man trying to wake him up, but he was sleeping so deep. Vins got pissed and slapped his cheek to wake him up.

"Ouch!! What the—mhp!?", Vins cover his mouth, and look at him.

"...don't make any noise...look outside..", Kentoki looks outside, and he saw a hundred infecteds outside of their van, which makes Kentoki screams.

Vins smack his head hardly, "I said don't make any noise!!", he said and look outside once again. The infecteds is like walking towards somewhere, but they didn't know where. Because of the noises of the two, Fionna slowly woke up and rubs her eyes.

"Its already midnight...why you guys yapping at this hours?", she said while yawning, she also look outside.

At the moment she stares at the window, an infected was staring at her with a menacingly look, its eyes was gobbled out, crumbling skins, loosened hairs, blood on its nose, ripped mouth, and visible veins. Her heart start to beat so fast, sweats coming out of her, and flowing down, her eyes was shaking in fear, she suddenly remember something from before. It was the time her older brother got bit and turned into something like them, rush towards her and tries to bite her too, luckily Tei shoot his son quickly, which kind of hard for all of them, but the impact in Fionna was different, it didn't turn into a frustration or something.....it turns into a trauma, a traumatic event that she doesn't want to see anymore. Going back at the present, Fionna snapped back, and start screaming so loudly.

"AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!", she scream out and echoes in the whole quite road.

Vins and Kentoki turn around and look at Fionna who's having a mental breakdown or something. Chloe got woke up, and start crying because she doesn't know what's happening. Kentoki quickly look at Vins,

"Stop her kid!! You need to do something!!", Kentoki said while looking outside.

"Fionna!! Stop what's happening to you!!? FIONNA!!", he shout but looks like Fionna is having something inside of her mind.

*Glass break* Suddenly, everything around Vins slowed down. The world outside the van became a blur. A rotting hand, twisted and desperate, broke through the window with a loud crash. Glass shattered everywhere, falling like deadly confetti, each piece sparkling in the dim light. Fionna's eyes grew wide with fear as the hand reached through the broken glass, fingers stretching and ready to grab her face. It touches Fionna's face, and slowly pulling her, the infected outside was now staring at her soul, growling hungrily. But in matter of second, flow of adrenaline and the will to protect Fionna, Vins broke the front seat, and fell at Fionna's thighs, his right arm was place besides of Fionna's left thigh, the broken chair is squeezing her thighs a little. He stretches his arm on the other side, and swing it quickly and smashing the infected's face with his clenching fist.

It creates a loud smashing sound, breaking the infected's head and skull. Vins fist is smoking because of the hard impact he did earlier. Fionna was stunned at what just happened, but Vins was super close to her and she can't do anything but to breath lightly and blush a little.

"...i did promise to you...i will never let anyone or anything...touches you", Vins said with a cool looking on his face.

Because of the loud noises, Fionna's scream and Chloe's cries, the infecteds start approaching their van, which makes Kentoki step on the gas, and start driving away from the horde. Vins was still kneeling at the seat, while Fionna and Chloe was holding at Vins so tight. Suddenly, a huge rounded thing blocked their way, and stop the van with barehanded. The four of them was flinches because the thing that blocking them is a large, bloated infected with a grotesque appearance. Its body is swollen and covered in a sickly greenish hue, with patches of decaying skin. The bloated infected has a wide, gaping mouth filled with sharp teeth, with a slimy green puke drooling at its lips.

"W-what kind of freaks is that!!?", Kentoki said when suddenly, Vins shoot the bloated infected, and it suddenly explode covering their van with slimy puke.

"What the heck did you shokt it for!!? Now our van is covered with disgusting goo!!!", Fionna yell at him and slapped him.

Kentoki step the gas once again, backing up a little since there's a half body of the bloated infected blocking their way, then their was about to leave when suddenly, a sound of motorcycle can be heard from behind. Vins world suddenly slow down once again and those peoples who riding s motorcycle, slowly pass them, which makes Vins saw their faces. His eyes was feel lively again, he snapped back, and the four of them saw that there's a group of riders pass through them without checking the van.

"...who? They're heading at the same destination we are heading too...Vins, what do you want to do? Any plan?", Kentoki ask Vins, but Vins was still not on his right mind because of what he witnesses earlier.

"Vins!! You okay?", Kentoki shook him, and this makes Vins snap back, and look at Kentoki.

"...yeah yeah, i'm okay...i know where we going now..", Vins look serious this time, Kentoki just smile at him and start the engine, and driving towards the Central Plaza, following those riders.

'...it can't be...but...i want to raise my hope, those riders...they are...i'm sure of it..they are my friends!!', Vins said on his mind.
