Chapter 11: Missions
Chapter eleven
There's an elevator. Jessica enters and clicks on number nine.
But instead of going up, Jessica could feel herself going down.
So,there are some secret rooms here???
Three guns were still with her. She took one and walk out of the elevator
Everywhere seems so quiet and dark.
Jessica would have turned back but at this point, she doesn't care. It's either they kill her or she kills them and avenge Max's death
The light came up suddenly.
Then a beep sounded and a voice erupt from somewhere around her,' 'Security enabled'
Just immediately, a line of laser was coming her way.
She falls and sleeps on the floor. The laser pass through, disappearing into nothingness
She stands again and look around her, she could feel someone watching her but there were no signs of cameras here
Suddenly, a line of laser appears again, then split into a rectangular shape, coming at her slowly.
Jessica knew it was over for her. She looks below her and above her for where to crawl into but there was none
She waits and anticipates it. It moves toward her then disappears, just then the door opens.
She walks through the door and enters another room.
The room is dim and she could only see with the light reflecting from the previous anteroom.
There's a door just close to her left. She moves nearer and opens the door.
There's nothing here, no one here either. It was like they all vanished
A loud voice broke through the void she was suspended in. She move closer at the intercom by her right
'Hi Jessica, this is Max. I'm in the room before you'
Max is alife? And he's in this place. It seems like a dream but someone actually switched off the laser security. No one would have saved her life if not for Max
She moves away from the intercom and looks around. Truly, there's a door to her left.
She moves closer and opens the door slowly. The first thing she sees is a man dressed in a t-shirt resembling the one Max was wearing before she left him
She walks in and the man whirl to look at her, a huge smile on his face, 'Jessica'
Jessica could feel the butterfly explode in her as she raced toward him. Max caught her midway and pull her into a tight hug
'i thought have lost you, 'Jessica says truthfully before pulling back, just for her to see the tiny dot on his ear
'When I saw the laser coming your way, I thought I would lose you again. I was so scared'
Jessica smiles and nods severally, 'You saved my life. But how did you end up here? '
'i came here immediately I woke up. I guess he was concentrating on you and didn't realize I was close on them too'
Jessica raises a confused brow, 'Who? '
Max look away and Jessica follow the path of his gaze toward a man that have been laid unconscious
'He's a clone. He was cloned to get at you'
Jessica looked at Max with bewilderment, 'What the heck! Why the heck would they do that? 'Jessica was still skeptical
'He said because your blood is the antidote. So, you are the only one that can stop the spread of the virus, 'he explained.
'But he doesn't need all this. I will gladly give out my blood without being forced'
He sigh and walk toward a small box, Jessica follows, 'There's a airborne antidote here, 'he turn to look at her, 'We need to get to SHALERA so we can use it for those people that have turned there.'
'Why can't we use it here too, 'Jessica asks
'Well,unless we make another one, we can't or we won't be able to make it to SHALERA. There are thousands of Zombies in front of the building now. We need to leave'
Jessica nodded once and thought about it, 'But how do we leave? '
'This cloned man has a helicopter over this building. We should take that and escape'
'That's ok, 'Jessica agreed, nodding briefly and watching Max start packing some things.
He soon turn to look at her, 'Here, 'he stretched out a time bomb, 'We need to destroy this place'
Jessica raises a brow confused, 'what! What about others? '
Max sighs sadly, 'everyone is dead Jessica. After you left, John went out and came back with five of them. Then they decided to leave the building, and were attacked by the zombie out there. They have all turned', he close his eyes against the tears that threatened to seep from under his lashes
Jessica closed her eyes too and let the tears drop, how would it have been if everyone was rescued, 'this was all the clone fault, 'Jessica screamed and raced toward the man that looks like Max angrily. She gave him a punch before Max pull her back forcefully
'He's gone already. Don't waste your energy on him, 'he says and Jessica broke out in tears.
'we need to hurry and leave before they burst to where the helicopter is, 'Max says urgently and Jessica nods, aware of the situation.
She quickly collects the time bomb and sets it in a corner.
'Let go, 'Jessica says and walk out with Max.
There were some zombies in the building already. Max was the one carrying the antidote so he couldn't shoot. So, Jessica was the one shooting at the zombies
They saw a staircase and climbed up. They ended up in the upper building. Truly, there was a helicopter there.
They both race toward the helicopter.
Suddenly, Jessica falls to the ground. Max stops and runs back to her, helping her up slowly,'Are you alright?'
Jessica nods briefly, 'Just tired, 'she says and holds onto his jacket. Max helps her walk toward the helicopter.
He gives the box to Jessica then climb up and collect the box from her, keeping it safe at the backseat
Jessica stretched out to him, he held her hand and pulled her up.
But stops suddenly and stabs her in the chest. Then let her fall down
Jessica looks up in pain, 'But why? '
Max moved back in his chair and smiled, 'I only needed you to safeguard me on the plane. And I know I could do it by pretending to be your Max. I knew about the mark, I just discovered it so I used it against you and you fell for it. '
Jessica raise a brow for a while and start to laugh
The man head squeeze, 'What's so funny'
She became sober,'There was no bomb anywhere. I didn't set any bomb'
'That's a lie! ' the man protested harshly
'When I moved to punch Max, I saw the dot there. So, I got confused. Then I thought about it. You said everyone was dead but you didn't show real concern for them especially your daughter. I know the way the real Max thinks. Even Though he didn't know anyone from Adam, but there's this spirit in him that wishes to save everyone.
So, I decided to play along to see the truth. So, I pretended to set the bomb but I didn't. At that time I didn't really know who to believe.
But while we were running to the helicopter, I saw a small knife with you and yet you told me you had nothing on you. So, I decided to act faster. There's a bomb in the helicopter, 'she says and laugh harder
The man hurries down in fear and races away but stops suddenly and looks back
Jessica smirk, 'I lied, the bomb was in your jacket.... '

Suddenly, Jessica falls to the ground. She unhook the bomb and sleeps on it
Max stops and runs back to her, helping her up slowly
Jessica then hold unto him and put the bomb in his jacket slowly

The man went blast, splitting in different directions.
Jessica cough blood, already feeling dizzy and weak as the result of the stab
Max raced out, 'Jessica!!! No! 'he rushes to her and takes her in his arms, 'Don't you dare die on me Jessica! 'He screams as he races back down into a room in the building,'you don't dare Jessica! You don't dare die on me!'
Jessica could feel the darkness hovering over ,'there's a airborne antidote in the box. You need to expose it now so we can kill the people with the virus,'she manage to say before surrendering to the deep pit that was ready to swallow her whole
In the process,she could hear screams and sobs. It multiplied as if there were other people in the room asides from Max

The first thing she sees when she opened her eyes were rays of light
She closes them back and opens them again to focus on something.
'OMG! She's awake! 'A childlike voice filled the air around her.
Jessica looks toward Mary. She watches her jump up in excitement before rushing out.
In a blink of an eye, everyone rushes into the room. People she knew as a result of the virus.
Max moves closer to check her pulse. Just seeing him made her believe she has really made it all. He's all she ever wanted
Her gaze was on him as he examine her
Max looks up and smiles, 'She's all right! '
'Oh thank God! 'steven says
'I've missed you so much! John says and rushes to hug her.
Everyone laugh and chatter happily
Max sighs and looks at her again, 'how do you feel? '
'i feel like a hero, 'jessica says and everyone burst out laughing
'of course you are a hero, 'bobby says, 'every zombie is dying without being touched and people that are just bitten have been rescued and given your blood. There's no more war. You really saved everyone'
Jessica smile and look at Max, 'i thought have lost you'
Max smile wildly, 'i almost die thinking you were gone'
'You guys better get married. John and I need parent, 'Mary says and everyone laugh again
