Chapter 16: Forbidden Plan
"Let's get started," Maya whispered, noticing her ex-boyfriend's welcoming demeanor.
"Start what?"
"Oh!" Maya giggled, taking Mike's hand with a flirtatious look, hoping to win him back.
"Alright. I'll leave you two alone," Mike's servant said, stepping away from them.
This situation was precisely what Maya and her friends wanted. She then began to chat sweetly with Mike, though occasionally, her eyes flashed with the hatred rooted deep in her heart.
"What do you want to eat?" Mike asked as his stomach began to growl.
"Me? I don't know what the maid has cooked."
"Let me ask. Just don't leave."
Maya nodded slowly and waited, curling her legs up on the sofa. She kept her eyes on the door where Mike had gone to inquire about their lunch menu.
Beep!
Maya's phone rang, and she quickly glanced at the text message she had just received.
'Hi, you've been inside for a long time. Is everything OK?'
It was a message from Ray, which Maya immediately replied to with two letters, 'OK!'
"Who was that?" Mike asked, returning with a large tray holding two steaming bowls of chicken soup.
"It's my driver! He's asking what time I'll be back."
"Tell him you're busy! Why does he keep bothering us?"
"Us?" Maya's eyes widened. "When has he ever bothered us?"
"Wasn't that just now?"
"Oh!" Maya chuckled, ending the argument that would indeed go on forever. "Let's just eat. I'm hungry," she continued sweetly, helping Mike set the bowls on the tray to prepare for their meal.
After a simple yet delicious lunch, Maya finally managed to get close to Mike again, just as she and Ikbal had planned in the café near their campus.
She then clung lovingly to Mike's arm, hoping he would believe she was giving him another chance to make things right.
"Are you sure you want to get back with me?" Mike asked, his hand gently wrapping around his beloved's waist.
"Of course! I'll always be yours, no matter what happens."
Hearing Maya's sweet words, Mike, a playboy, chuckled. These words had never come from Maya's lips before, so Mike believed they were sincere.
"Are you full? Why don't we have a drink?"
"A drink?" Mike looked at Maya, trying to understand her ambiguous words.
"Yes, a drink of water. Why are you surprised? What's wrong with drinking after a meal?"
"Oh!" Mike smacked his forehead, feeling his thoughts shouldn't have gone there. "Of course, water! What else would we drink?" Mike asked, heading back to the kitchen to get two bottles of mineral water from the fridge.
Creak!
The fridge door opened, but Mike's eyes weren't on the mineral water. Instead, he glanced at two bottles of golden beer, his favorite drink.
"Should I just bring these to Maya?" Mike hesitated but kept staring at the two cold beers beckoning him.
"Mike!" Maya called out because her boyfriend had been gone too long. "Hurry up."
"Yeah!" Mike finally grabbed the two beer bottles and brought them to the living room.
"Hey! What's that?" Maya asked, pretending not to know.
"This is a cold drink. It has a little alcohol. You won't get drunk from it."
'Perfect. My plan is getting closer,' Maya thought, glancing at the door, hoping no one would interrupt her plan this time. "I'll close the door. Your mom would be mad if she knew you were drinking in the middle of the day."
Without waiting for Mike's approval, Mr. Winata's daughter quickly walked to the door and closed it. Not only did she close it, but Maya also locked the door, hoping no one would disturb them.
"Let's drink!" Maya said, ready to continue her plan.
Mike, suddenly trusting Maya completely, opened the cap of the 620 ml beer bottle and slowly took a sip straight from the bottle.
"Hey!" Maya looked at Mike, puzzled.
"What?"
"You're drinking straight from the bottle?" Maya asked, feigning shock but then smiling slightly.
"Yes, I usually drink this much."
"Wow, don't you get drunk drinking that much?"
Mike shook his head and chuckled. The question was amusing, considering he was used to drinking a lot of beer.
'He must think I'll just drink as much beer as he wants,' Maya rolled her eyes, grabbing her bag and quickly opening it to prepare the drug Ikbal had given her at the café, which was said to make even the heaviest drinker drunk.
Beep! A text message rang on Maya's phone again, and she quickly peeked at the incoming message.
"It's your driver again, isn't it?" Mike asked irritably.
"No! It's my mom!" Maya said, showing the text message that was indeed from her mother. "Here, read it. She's asking what time I'll be home."
"Tell her you're staying here. Let's spend our time together in my room and let everyone know we're back together!"
"Wow!" Maya widened her eyes and then smiled sweetly. "Does that mean you're not afraid of Miya knowing I'm here?"
"Why should I be afraid?! I'm tired of her, as I said earlier. Let her know I don't love her. She's too spoiled and easily deceived. Too easy to get. Not fun."
"Oops!" Maya widened her eyes. She felt like punching the handsome man who had stolen her heart for daring to say such nasty things about her twin sister.
But, of course, she wouldn't do that. Her mission now was to make Mike think she was obedient to him.
"Hey, where's that drug," Maya whispered, unable to find the drug Ikbal had given her at the café. "What are you looking for?" Mike asked, starting to get suspicious since Maya hadn't touched the beer he offered.
"This, I need to take my medicine, but I forgot where I put it."
"This one!" Mike said, holding up a pink pill still neatly wrapped in plastic.
"Hey, where did you find that?"
"You wanted to take this medicine?" Mike asked, immediately knowing what the drug in his ex-girlfriend's bag was for.
"Do you know what that medicine is for?"
"Of course, I know!" Mike asserted.
"Damn! He knows what it is."
"Are you going to take it, or were you planning to put it in my drink?" Mike sneered.
'Oh no, what now!' Maya began to feel uneasy.
