Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Within the darkroom, I soon found that the statues that had once, been all around me, were now all gone. It was like they had got up and then walked away. Kind of funny really.

As I carried on looking, I soon found that there was a small stone podium nearby where I had been standing. I think it was where the unknown dragon statue had been standing. Curious as to what it was, I walked over.

Once in front of it, it seemed just that, a stone podium. Though on top of it there was some kind of tablet, with these weird runes engraved into it. I reached out and touched mainly to see if it would do anything at all. After all, I still had no actual idea how I was meant to be getting out of this room in the first place. I guess I was trapped. Though the thought of this did not scare me as much as it probably should have.

As my finger ran across the rough stone edge, the runes all suddenly lit up, as if the contact with my hand, had activated some kind of mechanism. It was weird. The previously dull grey rick, now having the runes engraved into it all light up in a bright golden color.

I, however, still could not read what the runes said, and before long they began to fade back to their previous appearance.

"Ahem."

I jumped backward on reflex. Scared out of my mind. That was a cough! There was no in here only seconds ago when I checked!

Turning around as soon as I had stopped jumping, I soon found myself face to face with the old man from before. His old wrinkled face, and soul searching eyes, yet again looking straight at me.

"So I have seen that your trip into the sanctum was a success and that you have received the blessing of the one known only as of the first...I bid to remember though my child, that the cost of what he has done, must be me, or else you will soon find yourself in terrible pain as your very blood rebels against you and try to kill you...Now you will soon find that not only have your bloodlines been merged into one, but they have all been fully awakened. You are now a full-fledged child of the Imperium. So be warned. Your power is not just some toy. You know fully par dragon in a way. Many will want your head….so go now. You may leave the tower and fulfill your new purpose. May the old ones guide you and the dragons herald your awakening!"

Then the old man waved his hands, and in an instant I found myself standing outside of the doors of the tower itself. Luckily for me though, it was completely dark out here and there was no one around to even see me appearing anyway.

Thinking back to what the old mysterious man had said, I flexed my hands a little. I could feel it, the massive increase in strength that the bloodline gave. Knowing this, I knew that I would probably be quicker as well. Everything about me was different now. Hell, even if I came up against a weaker demon, I could easily say I would slaughter it fully. Not like before when I could barely keep up and was nearly being killed by one myself.

I then grasped the hilt of my sword, I could feel the spirit inside trembling from my sudden increase in power. I could feel it trying to draw in my spirit so that it could undergo its next awakening as I was now capable of breaking a few of the seal's place upon it at this point.

Whispering to it, "Not now. First I have one more person to kill, then let us escape to safety before we carry on with this. It shouldn't take long. I hope."

With that, I began to creep off and away from the tower, sticking to where the shadows were at their darkest. As I snuck through the grounds of the campus, I came across a few patrols of the guards as well as to my surprise some senior students or even teachers occlusal that was accompanying them as well.

This was weird though and confused me greatly. After all, why would they be doing patrols for? Yes, I had broken into the tower, but I was supposed to be inside for five months, not just a few days as I had been, or I assumed it was a few days anyway, it was hard to keep track of the time being in that tower. All of that light that I saw was artificial, not natural at all.

The patrol soon passed by where I was hiding, not one of them was talking. Just walking around in silence, which to be honest was a little creepy. A group of people walking around in silence. It was a bit like the ghost stories which were told to me and Calum when we were younger.

As I crept through the campus grounds, getting closer and closer to where the archmage was living. I started to wonder what my little brother was up to currently. I hoped he was still back home, in our village. Farming the fields and helping out the other village folk around and still dreaming of the day that I come home, a glorious general. Though, I doubt will ever come home like that. The day I can come home, I will probably be a war-scarred soldier. Who has way too many secrets and can never trust anyone again.

As I think about it, I am not the child that I used to be. I used to be so happy and lively when I was younger. Now, look at me. I am a killer. I joined a secret order of assassins with a grand aim to justify everything that we do. Well, I guess though that I do have another goal now though. A goal that is so important has the power to change the world around me.

Though how does one even close a breach in the first place? I guess I will just have to work it out once I have dealt with my current situation. After all, this is the archmages' house if I am not mistaken.

I stopped in the shadows, not far from his house at all. As I looked at it. I noticed that there were many more guards around his house than he would normally have. If anything he would never normally have any guards at all. What was wrong with this old fool? He definitely would not be fearing me...so what had gotten him so scared with the patrols and now this as well.

I furrowed my brows in thought, as I began to look for a way to sneak into the house itself. As I looked, I saw that there was an open window right near where I was. The only problem was the guard that was standing right next to it. Though it was only one guard so maybe…

I began to slowly creep closer to the guard, the moon shining off the glint of the knife that was in my hands.

Soon enough, I was close enough to him so that I could strike. Luckily after another quick look around, there were no other guards nearby for now. So I leaped out of the shadows, the knife plunging into his neck.

The poor guard collapsed without even knowing what had attacked him.

With that out of the way, I quickly peeked into the room. There was no inside. Thanking my lucky stars. I moved the dead body of the guard into the room, then I went through the window myself. Closing it behind me, so that no one outside, could see the dead body of the guard within. Just before I moved out of the room and further up through the house to where I assumed the archmage should be currently sleeping. I tried to hide the body the best that I could, in case anyone came in,

It wasn't the best job, but at least if anyone does have a glance around, they should not be able to notice anything amiss.

Then with that, I snuck out of the room and began to slowly head upstairs. There wasn't any guard inside, unlike what I was expecting. Smiling at the small fortune that I had been gifted again. I moved a bit quicker through the house. Quickly coming up on the room of the archmage.

I paused as I stood outside of it.

I could hear some panting, rather loud in fact. Then I heard a loud moan. Wait doesn't this sound like…

My hand reached out for the door handle, in the other was a dagger. I had decided that I would pounce on him and kill him and anyone else inside as soon as entered.

I took a deep breath.

Then I twisted the door handle.
