Chapter 6: The Messenger

I was woken by someone trying to shake me. I woke up with a start, thinking are we alright? Are we crashing? Do I need to use the mask the lady was demonstrating earlier before we took off? I was wide awake in .02 seconds then I saw Skye who is seating next to me, brimming with joy, ecstatic and almost jumping up and down her seat.

"You have got to be kidding me? Why did you wake me up like that?" I asked incredulous.

There's a saying make a joke to a drunk but not to a person who just woke up.

" You will not believe who I was speaking to in the end of the aisle!" she opened up.

Like a grissly bear who was woken up suddenly from her hibernation, I answered, "If its not James Marsden or Tom Hardy, I don't give a rat's arse!"

Skye laughed and shook me again, "No, not one of them but I bet you'll want to know this one, it's Mr. Broody from the airport."

I was still not in the mood for her games so I just puffed my pillow and turned away from her.

"Wynter, it's your crush that you asked me to look for when we were seating at the airline lounge... Fine, if you're not interested to know that, He, asked for you, then my lips are sealed!" she said with conviction.

I turned around to face her and smiled "Really? And how did you know I had a crush on him? What did he say?" and that is all I have to say for her to spill everything! Forgetting about my denial..

"Geez, I've known you since Kindy, so I can tell you had a crush on him. So, I was bored reading my kindle so I went and walked to the end of the aisle thinking I should stretch my legs. You should see my surprise who I found there? Mr Broody! His name is Ash Lattimer, he's from Bondi too, in fact, he lives just across my Aunt's house, fate or destiny? I think this is your one, Wynter!" she babbled.

"Skye, focus here please? What did he say?" I interrupted her babbling.

"You have to listen to everything that has happened or it is just not as exciting!" she dramatically said and rolling her eyes at me.

"Right, so what happened after you saw him?" I have to pick my words to get the best details or otherwise she's going to add her opinions to everything. I was a bit surprised at how impatient I am to know more.

"So when he saw me, he nodded his head, so I just nodded at him, then he walk towards me and introduced himself, he said his name was Ash Lattimer, I thought at first he was interested in me as he was just a bit too dreammmmmmy looking!"

Did I tell you that she exaggerates a lot?

"then he ask me if the girl I was with earlier was here too? I was a bit disappointed because I was actually eyeing him earlier..."

Did I also say she's blunt?

"so I said yes she's here, then I asked why and he started saying 'nothing nothing just curious' if that doesn't mean anything then you can cut my arms!"

Violent?

" Anyway, after couple of minutes standing there, he asked what your name is, before I can answer he also asked if I could introduce you to him, so I said I will check if you're alright with it and that you're available."

Say what????? Did I just hear her say I'm available????? I look at Skye with a horrified look on my face.

"Did you just told a stranger I'm available? What am I? a frigging unit for rent?" I asked.

Skye was dumbfounded and tried to think back on what she just told me.

" I meant if you're available, but you are available so what's your problem with that?" she asked confused.

My friend, my best friend, is exasperating at the very least, why she is still my friend I do not know. There really must be something wrong with me??

" Skye, you're advertising me as available is ... is.. " I couldn't get a good word to describe it, then she interjected, " helping you get a boyfriend?"

I did described her as exasperating didn't I? I get frustrated with her when she is like this.. then why am I still friends with her? my inner voice asked me and before I can answer my own question I heard her say..

" I said to him I will only introduce the two of you if you are willing and if not then I won't." she said in matter of fact way.

"Don't bother, if he's really interested in me, he can come and introduce himself, he doesn't need a messenger to do his dirty work for him." is all I can say.
