Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Just a random interruptions
Wu Jinmai's POV
A'Zu stood up first, but when she held my palm to help me out, he lifted me up with force and caught me in the air.
"Like the last time, you'll be staying tonight, my empress," Shanguan Zu Jin says.
I wrap my hands around his neck. I didn't argue and looked at his beautiful face. I just had a single bottle, but why does he shine crazily in my eyes?
'It's freaking night, Susu! Why does he look like a man in shining armor? Am I getting crazy and insane?! Gosh!'
He kicked the door open and did the same to close it. He was rushing towards his bed. My heart beats so loudly that I can't hear anything else anymore.
My principal husband puts me down and crawls over me. He was looking at me meaningfully. The face he's making...
'It's a man who was sexually aroused. What am I going to do?! How can I stop him from craving it? I'm not ready to give him something that he wishes to have…'
"Don't be afraid. I'm not in the shape to—"
He landed on my top. I look at him and realize that he passed out because of drunkenness! I chuckled and pulled out the quilt.
I slowly pushed him on my side. I nestled closer and embraced him. "You wasted the chance, silly," I joke.
I opened my eyes and realized that Shanguan Zu Jin had been staring at me. I was about to roll myself on the other side, but he stops me by pinning his lower body on me.
"By the way, I heard that you take medicine for Concubine Wang. The medicine that they gave her, there's a poison in it, right?" he asks.
My eyes dilated when I heard what he said. Did he know something that I should know?
"Zu Jin, tell me, you know something. Just tell me already," I demand.
He looked at me and didn't answer. Did he shut me off just like this? He's so petty!
"Give me a kiss, and I might tell you," he says. I tried not to show him that I was pissed because of his demand.
I sighed. "I can investigate the situation myself. That's clearly harassment," I sulk. He moves his face closer.
"You're my wife anyway," he whispers.
I knew he would kiss me after. I just let him. If this is the only way that he'll have the second thought of betraying me, I'm ready to take the risk.
I need strong cards to win against the people who want me dead and control the throne.
I moan when his kiss became hotter and the rhythm changed. I suddenly realized his hands were touching me differently. Is he going to consummate his marriage with Wu Jinmai?! Oh no!
"Young master, you have to get up. The princess is not in her quarters. I think something happens when she goes back in her chamber after she visits last night. Everyone was looking for her!"
I saw how Shanguan Zu Jin's expression changed. He was mad as if he's ready to kick out of his servant's butt. I laugh.
"Who is that?! Young master, who is that woman in your bed?! Are you trying to get killed because of a maidservant that will warm your bed?! I can't believe you will do such a thing! You've never done this before! This is ridiculous!" Xu Jiaxu exclaims.
It made me laugh more. I can't believe he accused his master of adultery. I looked at Zu Jin, then chuckled. He's really damn mad!
"Xu Jiaxu!" he roars.
Shanguan Zu Jin moved the curtain and gasped when he saw me lying in his master's bed. He turns around right away.
"I will prepare the breakfast!"
He dashes away to save his life from his master. I got up and tried not to laugh further.
"I have to go back to my chamber. I'm sure Eunuch Liu was flipping the whole quarters to find me. I sneaked out last night, and no one knew that I was there. I don't want to create more buzz."
I get off the bed and fix my hair. He suddenly embraces me from behind. "Be careful. You're digging too deep, Susu. Don't take our warning too lightly," he whispered.
I turn around and face him. I kiss his cheek and smile. "I know what you are trying to say. I'll be fine," I murmur.
He let go of me. I take that chance to leave right away. I arrived in my manor, and the servants and guards were everywhere. They stop looking when I cough.
"Your Highness!" Chen Da Xi exclaimed.
I smiled and walked further. She suddenly embraces me. "Where have you been?" she asks, sobbing. I laugh and brush her head.
"I sleep in my husband's chamber," I replied. They all look at me. Eunuch Liu gave me those strange glances.
"Which of them?" he asks. I forgot that Wu Jinmai had three husbands.
"The emperor consort's chamber," I added.
He sighed and looked at me. "You Highness, you must eat your breakfast. It was already in your chamber. We need to talk as well," he asserts. I look at Chen Da Xi.
"Prepare some food for consort Want and Gong Lingling, okay?" I stated. She smiled and bowed down.
Eunuch Liu and I headed into my chamber. I know he wants to scold me for sneaking around and meeting with the emperor consort late at night.
He closed the door and followed me to where I drank my tea and had my meal. This is what I like about ancient times.
This kind of window was aesthetic. You don't need to worry about burglars or anything.
The bad side is that assassination is rampant, especially when you have high positions in court or are among the noble and rich.
Male chauvinism was also evident. I take my seat and taste the food on the table.
"Your Highness, why are you giving us a headache, huh? Why did you have to sneak into your emperor's consort's chamber? You can summon him here and sleep with you. That's how it should work," Eunuch Liu says.
I look at him. I chewed my food properly and devoured it. I sighed. "It only happens that I want to explain why I told him to sleep in his chamber for the night, but I end up... sleeping there," I explained.
He gave me those weird glances. I think I've been stressing the hell out of him. "Really, Your Highness?" he says, using a monotone voice.
I simply smiled and continued to eat my breakfast. After finishing my meal, I faced him.
"Uncle, I want you to investigate two officials. I need their background a day before the next court meeting. Their names are Su Ming Xi and Bai Xuan," I remarked.
"They're the first heirs of Su and Bai manor. What are you planning to do? Are you going to add more husbands?" he asks. I frowned and coldly glared at him.
"Don't give me that face. I want to know if they're useful for pieces for my game of go," I whispered.
