Chapter 162: Interlude ─ Wife and Husband
I still remember it like it was yesterday.
I was at an engagement party, it was mine.
The man in front of me would become my husband.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Marian from Wayne Household."
"Likewise, Randolf of the Rosenberg Household. Pleasure to meet you."
The man in front of me is someone I knew from my days at the academy, even though we never spoke. I was always in love with him.
I watched him from afar, always passing by with a girl, the heiress of Vermillion Household.
We lived different lives, at no time did we ever consider that our destinies would intertwine.
Deep down I was happy. I was going to marry the man I loved.
But one day I asked him after seeing him so down.
"Is something wrong?"
He looked out the window, always in the same direction.
"Nothing, I'm just wandering around pensively."
I recognized that look, it was the look of helplessness I had when I looked at him from afar.
I get it, I know better than anyone.
Despite being married and having children, he still loves that woman.
She left him at the altar, I was furious at what she did to him, she left a good man for a commoner no one knew.
We thought she did it to upset her family, but she made him the guardian, she even sent an engagement request to our house.
I really got angry with that woman. Not only did she make fun of my husband, but now she torments him.

He went to the far side of the garden and buried it.
When he came to our bedroom, he hugged me tightly and made love to me.
I was happy because my husband desired me, but the expression on my husband's face did not seem to be looking at me.
Before going to sleep I told him.
"No matter what you have done, no matter what you hide. Your wife will always be on your side, my love."
"Thank you, Marian."
It was the first time he pronounced my name as an equal and not with a respect for a stranger or relative.
When a woman loves a man, it is not only for better or worse. It is also to hide anything that has happened in their lives.
"That's why, my love, you didn't do anything wrong. Just sleep peacefully to see a new day."
A wife's duty will always be to be her husband's right hand, and I will support mine always. Even if it takes me to hell.
