Chapter 3: Mary
I got out of the shower and wrapped myself in a towel. I decided to wear something comfortable as I made my way to the closet.
As I walked out of the bathroom, something or rather someone caught my eye and let out a scream.
" S-sorry Miss Haden. I-I heard you in the s-shower and b-brought you some s-slippers", the poor thing said.
"It's fine but please call me Reyna. What's your name?" I said while taking the slippers and putting them on. I motioned for her to walk with me and she followed.
"M-Mary miss, sorry, Reyna", she said still scared.
"You can calm down. It's fine I'm not like my parents."
She let out a sigh and watched me pick something to wear.
"Uhm, Reyna?" She asked suddenly as I got lost in thought over which pair of joggers to wear.
"Yes Mary?"I urged.
"I was told to inform you that your neighbors will be coming over for dinner," she said in almost a whisper.
"Neighbors? As in, we have neighbors living in a house somewhere in this... forest place, who are within driving distance and thought it will be good to go over to a ginormous mansion hidden in the same ... forest place?" I asked looking straight at her. She seemed confused as she pondered my question for a moment before looking back at me and nodding her head in a furious manner.
"Dammit. Just when I thought I was going to have a good weekend." I cursed, returning to my earlier debate on joggers.
"I can help you pick out something to wear", she offered shyly .
"Thank you", I said while hugging her. She seemed startled as she didn't reciprocate. I thought I might as well give her the good news. "By the way, your my personal helper now. I will inform the head maid about it so don't worry."
"Uhm, Miss?"she gasped.
"Mhm?" I hummed.
"Can't ... b-breathe!" she gasped again.
"Oh!" I said while jumping back.
Her face was flushed with red as she bent over and gasped for more air. She got up after a while with one hand on her waist and the other patting her chest and straightening her uniform.
While she gasped, I used the opportunity to take in her appearance. She's smaller than me, with red hair and pale blue eyes. She had brown lips and she wore a black and white uniform like the rest of the maids. She had tan skin and looked quite... cute I must say.
"My mother must have given you the theme of the evening," I said after she regained her composure.
"Uhm...," she said while taking a note from her apron. "Casual. Oh and no boy clothes," she added.
She just had to add that last part. Well, there was no escaping it now.
"How much time do we have?" I asked with a sigh while looking around. I just realised I've been in a towel the whole time.
"Four hours and twelve minutes. It's by eight," she said as she watched me reach for a rob on my dressing chair. I guess she planned on giving it to me before I scared her.
"How about a tour? How long have you lived in Fall Meadows?" I asked while getting ito a pair of grey puma joggers and picking out a white sweater.
"Sure. And I've lived here my whole life."
"Tell me your story," I said while putting on grey Airmax 270's.
She looked stunned as we walked into my room.
This is going to be fun.
