Chapter 12: A date with Alex

William glanced at Alex who smiled at him warmly before looking at the restaurant in front of them.

JOE'S BBQ GRILL

"Let's go." She said before walking into the building. William quickly followed her and after a few words with one of the employees they were seated at a table.

William browsed through the menu and once he found what he wanted he placed the menu to the side, after a few moments Alex did the same before looking at him.

"So, what do you think of this place?" The female wizard asked.

William quirked an eyebrow before answering her question. "It's nice, it doesn't look like many people know about this place though." He said taking notice of the lack of customers within the restaurant.

"Yeah. Despite not being known by many people this is a pretty good place. They're food is pretty good. "Alex said.

William nods looking at the waiter who walked to them with a pen and notepad in his hands. "May I take your order? Are you guys ready?" The Waiter asks.

Alex began to tell him what she wanted. "I'd like the BBQ bacon sandwich with fries on the side."

"Do you want a drink?" The Waiter asked.

Alex nods. "A root beer."

"And for you sir?" The Waiter asked turning towards William.

"The BBQ Chicken for me, I'd like fries on the side as well."

"Drink?"

"Water will be fine."

"I'll be back shortly." The Waiter said smiling before walking away to get the order prepared.

Neither the Elemental nor Wizard noticed the hooded figure staring at them as their date progressed. Both looked so happy as they continued to chat and enjoy each other's company. They were oblivious to this stranger's intentions.

Alex formed a smile on her lips as she watched William enjoying his food. "I told you, didn't I? They're food is out of this world."

William swallowed the food in his mouth before replying. "Yeah, you were right, then again I've never been to many restaurants." He spoke. "We should definitely come here again."

The smile on Alex's face brightened. "We should."

….

After an hour or so Alex and William walked out of the restaurant. She looked at him with a serious expression on her face.

"We shouldn't be seen together, if Harper see us together it could be bad." Alex said.

William wanted to tell her that lying would only create further problems, but he knew that Alex wouldn't listen to him, so he just stayed quiet and silently nodded.

After walking for a few minutes, they parted ways with one another going their separate ways. 'Today is as good a day as any to begin my training.' He thought to himself as he headed to a spot, he believed was perfect for his training.

Four days later

William and Alex had done well to keep their relationship a secret, Harper wasn't stupid. One day she would discover the truth and she was going to be pissed. Harper aside his relationship with Alex had blossomed. To avoid suspicion, they had been on very few dates. It was obvious that these two cared for one another deeply if one looked closely enough.

The couple exited from a movie theatre indicating they had just finished a movie. William looked at her and smiled. "Are you hungry?" He asked.

Alex nods. "I could go for some food." She replied before linking his hand with her own and lacing their fingers together. "Joe's BBQ?"

William chuckled. "You read my mind. Let's go."

With that being said Alex and William walked towards their favorite restaurant with eager smiles on their faces.

…..

Five days later

"What do you mean you're going to be gone all Saturday?" Justin asked. "Don't you care about your wizard training at all?"

Alex looked at her brother with a raised brow. Briefly she wondered if he was onto her. She doubted it, they had been so careful. True they had been on dates, but they made sure not to be around anyone they knew.

"One day isn't going to hurt anything, Mom or dad isn't making a big deal out of it so neither should you."

"What's so important that you'll be gone all day?" Justin asked.

"I don't have to answer that, unlike you I have a social life." Alex replied. She was sort of annoyed that her brother was in her business, she just wanted one day that she could spend peacefully with her boyfriend without the fear of being discovered.

"Alex." Justin said sternly. "What shenanigans are you up to now?"

Alex laughed. "I'm not up to anything, Justin." She spoke. "You're not mom or dad, I don't have to tell you shit."

Justin narrowed his eyes as she walked away, annoyed. 'Alex…you idiot...'

William sat in an abandoned apartment on top of a makeshift bed consisting of blankets and pillows. It wasn't anything fancy but at least he had somewhere to sleep. The young man stared at the ceiling as he thought back to the conversation, he had with Alex a few days ago.

"William, I was thinking and…I have this idea for our next date." Alex said.

William looked at her curiously. "What's on your mind?"

"I thought it would be nice if we could go on a date without the fear of being discovered. So, William how do you feel about the beach?"

"Sounds fun, but any where's fine as long as we're together." He spoke.

Alex smiled softly. "It's a date then."

….

"The beach huh?" William asked himself as he continued to look at the ceiling. "I've never been to a beach before." He closed his eyes deciding to take a nap before training.

William wanted to take it easy today because he didn't want to be sore for his date with Alex. He figured after tomorrow he could just train twice as hard. It wasn't like he was slacking. His body needed rest; he couldn't overwork himself.

Before long the Elemental found himself drifting off to sleep.

….

The Next day William and Alex met up somewhere they were sure they wouldn't be spotted, grabbing his hand they teleported to Miami, she was smart enough to teleport to an unpopulated area.

"Let's go." Alex said, which caused him to smile softly at her. She led him towards the beach. William figured if they were walking it wasn't too far away. If he was being honest with himself, it was nice to be out in the open without the fear of being found out.

Before long the couple arrived at one of Miami's many beaches. William felt his excitedness growing as they walked further onto the beach. Eventually they made their way towards the changing rooms, William stood by the side of the wall with his arms crossed while he waited for Alex.

Alex exited the changing room wearing her bathing suit consisting of a blue two piece. William couldn't keep his eyes off her.

She smiled. "You like my bathing suit?" Alex asked curiously.

"You look nice." William said. In all honesty he thought she looked downright beautiful.

"Thanks!" Alex exclaimed before she stared at him, more specifically at his exposed six back. William felt his cheeks heating up as she continued to stare. "You look great as well, William."

"Thanks…"

"C'mon." Alex said, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the water. William's blush died down as they got closer to the water. He noticed multiple families either playing in the water or with the sand, there were also multiple couples on the beach.

William watched as Alex walked over to the water. She dipped her toes in the water before quickly removing them from the water. "That's cold!" She exclaimed.

An amused look appeared on his face before he got closer, Alex didn't suspect a thing as she was forced into the water.

Alex registered the feeling of her being in the water, immediately she felt cold however after a few moments she got used to the temperature of the water. She looked towards her boyfriend who couldn't control his laughter.

To say she was surprised would be an understatement, she had seen him smile here and there but seeing him laugh like this he looked truly happy. To think that he had a playful side to him.

Alex grinned before splashing water on him. William stared at her for a moment before grinning himself as he entered the water and walked towards her. She giggled as he splashed water on her, not one to be outdone she splashed back, thus their playful water battle continued.

New York-Several hours later-

After having their fun at the beach, the couple returned to New York, William had so much fun today that he wished everyday was like this. Being with Alex made him so happy, he hated that he couldn't express his love for his girlfriend out in the open. Why did they have to hide their relationship?

Of course, he knew why, but still It hurt that they had to hide their relationship in the first place.

"I'll see you later, William." Alex said with a frown. She didn't like hiding their relationship but what could she do? It was either that or hurt her best friend.

William nods.

Alex leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Today was nice. I had a lot of fun."

William smiled. "It was a lot of fun for me as well, thank you Alex."

Alex chuckled before walking away, heading towards the Waverly substation. William looked at her disappearing form before he stretched. 'I Should get to training.' He thought.

….

When Alex walked into the substation Justin was the first to take notice of her, his eyes narrowed before walking up to her.

"What?" Alex asked as she noticed the stern expression on his face,

"You were gone for over Eight hours, Alex." Justin said. "It's well past 7:30. What were you doing gone that long?"

"This again Justin? What I do in my free time is none of your concern, I've told you this already." Alex said irritatingly.

"It does when it concerns your safety, you haven't been using any dangerous spells have you?" Justin asked.

Alex could tell he was genuinely concerned so she just told him. "I didn't do any spells that would cause me harm and I'm not in any danger."

Justin sighed. "Alright, you know you can always come to me if you're ever in trouble, right?"

"I know." she said calmly.

"Dad said you've been doing well in your studies. He's mentioned that you've created your own spell. That's impressive."

Alex smirked. "Careful, I might leave you in the dust. Who knows maybe I'll be the family wizard."

"Fat chance." He spoke. "You should show me that spell sometime."

"Maybe one day." She replied. 'I must get stronger. I need to help William.' She finished that last part in her thoughts.
