Chapter 32: The Room of Requirement

After parting ways with Fred and George, Ethan made his way to the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle, stopping in front of the tapestry depicting the troll hitting Barnabas the Barmy. He walked back and forth three times in front of the blank wall, silently thinking, "I need a place to hide things!"

As he stopped, a smooth door appeared on the wall out of thin air. Without hesitation, Ethan stepped inside.

The door vanished behind him, leaving no trace of its presence. Inside, Ethan found himself in an enormous, cluttered room, resembling a storage area filled with all kinds of objects.

A quick tour revealed an array of hidden treasures. Over the centuries, countless students had stashed their belongings here. While much of it was junk, there were also many valuable items. Ethan couldn't help but wonder why these treasures were never reclaimed.

Bookshelves lined the walls, holding thousands of books, some neatly stacked and others scattered. Protected by magic, they remained pristine. Ethan surmised that these books likely belonged to Ravenclaw students.

Ravenclaws, known for their insatiable thirst for knowledge, sometimes resorted to questionable means to achieve their goals. This was evident in the actions of graduates like Quirrell and Lockhart. The books were likely banned or acquired through dubious methods, making them extremely valuable.

Ethan opened his box, enchanted with an undetectable extension charm, and used a levitation spell to collect the books. He planned to organize them later when he had more time.

Next, he embarked on a treasure hunt. He found peculiar alchemical items, ornaments possibly made of gold, and jewelry crafted from Galleons and Sickles. He also discovered numerous potion bottles, some containing unknown substances that might still be potent.

Among the finds were dozens of flying brooms, including some ancient models. He wondered if there were wizards who collected these antique brooms.

Suddenly, a series of small creatures sprang out from a pile of old furniture. They had iron-blue skin, stood about eight inches tall, and emitted harsh chirping sounds. Ethan recognized them as Cornish pixies, mischievous creatures known for their pranks.

He wondered who had hidden them here and what they had been eating all this time. The pixies were too noisy, and Ethan decided to deal with them. "Time for a snack!" he said, pulling out an egg that had been shrunk by the Swooping Evil. He threw it into the air, and with a sharp whistle, the Swooping Evil resumed its original form, leaving a trail of afterimages as it flew.

The Cornish pixies screamed and scattered, but their efforts were futile against the larger, stronger, and faster Swooping Evil. Pixie bodies began to fall from the air, and those hiding in crevices were ruthlessly hunted down.

Ethan summoned his lethifold from the pendant to devour the pixie bodies. After feeding them some energy cubes, he put them away. The Swooping Evil thrived on dragon blood, while the lethifold preferred Thestral bones, enhancing their size and abilities.

With the pixies dealt with, Ethan resumed his search. He collected the items he found interesting, placing them in his enchanted box. He stopped at a table holding a box wrapped in hemp rope. Inside, he knew, lay the diadem of Ravenclaw. He remembered this scene from the original story.

Opening the box, he saw the beautiful diadem made of gold, resembling an eagle with outstretched wings, with a dim gemstone in the center—a symbol of Ravenclaw House. Legend had it that Rowena Ravenclaw enchanted the diadem to increase the wearer's wisdom. However, Ethan dared not try it now. Voldemort had turned it into a Horcrux, a dangerous black magic artifact.

Ethan had no intention of destroying the Horcruxes yet. Doing so would alert Voldemort, who was still at Hogwarts. Destroying the diadem later would nearly drive Voldemort insane. At that time, he only had Nagini left as a Horcrux, and he guarded her jealously.

With most of the interesting items collected, Ethan surveyed the remaining oddities—wild boar statues, old cauldrons, broken furniture. He noticed a panel flashing since he entered the Room of Requirement.

[Wishes Granted]

Please make a wish. I will satisfy you, but everything has a price. Are you ready?

Achievement goal: Enter the Room of Requirement (1/1)

Achievement reward: A random ancient magic

[Thief]

That shameless guy, put down my precious !

Achievement goal: Steal an item (1/1)

Achievement reward: A random magic

[Thief Saint]

Don't go without courtesy, don't be greedy without money, but you are the opposite.

Achievement goal: Steal items without being discovered by anyone (100/100)

Achievement reward: A random dark magic

Completing three achievements at once, plus the one for the night tour, meant Ethan had accomplished four achievements in just two days at Hogwarts. There was so much to explore.

As he received the information, he understood the nature of the three magics.

The first was ancient magic from the early Middle Ages, when the Baltic coast was ravaged by Vikings: Mjolnir! The spell was simple yet powerful, summoning a lightning hammer to strike opponents, with a wide range and strong power, though it consumed a lot of magical energy. The message also imparted knowledge of ancient magical runes.

The other two magics were less impressive. The Marking Spell allowed Ethan to inscribe a burning mark on objects, useful for marking or attacking. The Germination Spell, a curse, required a part of the target's body. It caused a tumor to grow on the target, draining their magic and vitality until they were depleted.

Ethan's day had been eventful, filled with discovery and achievement. He left the Room of Requirement, knowing he had only just begun to uncover the secrets of Hogwarts.
