Chapter 188: Chapter 188: The Death of Laufey

"Be careful!"

Just as Mindy captivated all the spectators on-site and in front of the TV with her bold declaration, Sif suddenly exclaimed in alarm. The Destroyer, lying on the ground, had managed to gather an energy cannon without fully rising, propping itself up with its hands, and fired at Mindy.

Sif was the first to notice the danger, but it was already too late to organize a defense or rescue.

"Whoosh!"

In the nick of time, Mindy didn't even look back as she shot into the sky, narrowly avoiding the energy beam. The beam, missing its target, hit a high-rise building behind her, creating a large, transparent hole through it.

Meanwhile, another girl's voice came from Mindy's armor, "You little rascal, even when showing off, you should be aware of the enemy situation around you. That big guy's energy beam is powerful, and this suit's armor can't withstand it. Be careful!"

This voice belonged to Eris! How did Eris come to fight alongside Mindy?

This story goes back two months, but it's a short one.

Before the superhero selection, during a three-way discussion, Clark ambitiously proposed creating a simulation system to test the strength of superheroes. Tony couldn't let Clark hog all the limelight, so he decisively sent Eris over to collaborate on the project.

During this process, Eris got along very well with Skye, Mindy, and other ladies, especially hitting it off with little Mindy.

Thus, Eris used materials from Clark's side to tailor a Queen's Knight armor specifically for Mindy.

This suit, an auxiliary model designed to match Mindy's fighting style, didn't overlap with the Queen's Knight armor Tony had for Eris.

As for the operating system, of course, its creator, Eris, was in charge.

Fortunately, she was there; otherwise, Mindy might have been in serious trouble just now.

"Such a cunning creature, take this!" In a roar, Mindy, controlling the Queen's Knight Mindy model armor, dove down, her energy gun emitting dazzling light straight at the Destroyer's chest: "Ganlie Break!"

Meanwhile, Clark had been battling Laufey for a long time. Although he had the upper hand in moves, he couldn't inflict substantial damage on his opponent.

Knowing this could go on for days without determining a winner, Clark finally decided to use his real trump card. He summoned the Tesseract from his spatial storage, holding it in his left palm.

"The Tesseract?"

As a powerful being who had once faced Odin head-on, Laufey was familiar with the Tesseract. However, he remembered it as a mere tool for transporting soldiers, envious but never seriously considering its potential.

With a sneer, Laufey said, "Kid, you're not planning to tell me that's your ace, are you? What can you do with it, run away instantly in front of me?"

"Run away?" Clark laughed coldly, "Thinking of running away now? Don't you think it's a bit late?"

As he spoke, the Healing Hand transformed into a sword, holding the Tesseract in his left hand and pointing the sword at Laufey with his right.

Clark's tone was colder than winter: "Since you've come to Earth to slaughter innocents, prepare to be buried with those you've killed!"

Laufey wanted to mock him, but he couldn't as he saw visible blue energy flowing from the Tesseract into Clark's sword.

Feeling a deadly threat from the now sword-shaped Healing Hand, Laufey was reminded of a nightmare that had haunted him for centuries: the young image of Odin!

"Redeem yourself for your deeds!" As the Tesseract's energy flowed into the Healing Hand, Clark's eyes filled with unwavering resolve: "Farewell, Laufey!"

"Tesseract Spatial Slash!"

With a roar, Clark and his sword became a blur of blue light, the Healing Hand wrapped in Tesseract energy, tearing a dark rift in the calm space, splitting everything in its path.

The target was Laufey.

Such a terrifying sword move!

Laufey, unable to ponder how Clark used the Tesseract, meant for teleportation and energy provision, to unleash such a horrifying attack, instinctively raised his arm in defense.

But it was futile.

The sword cut through Laufey's arm, previously unharmed by concussive forces, as easily as paper. The space-rending energy cut him in two, not slowing the sword's momentum for even a fraction of a second.

Then, Clark's blade passed Laufey's neck, decapitating him in a spray of blood. His head soared into the air, his body severed.

Clark had not just focused on recreating martial arts from novels with his awakened "Steal Skill" ability. He had spent most of his energy studying the Tesseract.

But the Tesseract's high level made it challenging to derive anything, even with "Steal Skill."

It wasn't until Sif's arrival on Earth and Clark accumulated enough impression points to upgrade "Steal Skill" to level seven that he sensed something indescribable from the Tesseract and felt a hint of the world's spatial rules.

An inhabitant of this world might use such knowledge for mass teleportation or endless energy, but Clark, influenced by numerous fantasy novels before his arrival, thought of integrating spatial rules into his martial techniques.

Spatial cutting was a simple, brutal, yet powerful application of spatial rules.

Thus, the "Tesseract Spatial Slash," reliant on the Tesseract's power, made its debut, instantly defeating Laufey.

Receiving +1000 impression points from Laufey!

Laufey, a ruler of Jotunheim for thousands of years, was defeated by Clark's sword on his second visit to Earth.

As Clark made a gesture towards Laufey's body, a portal appeared beneath it, whisking away the body, arms, and head.

"My king!"

Witnessing Laufey's death, the remaining sixteen Frost Giants roared in unison, abandoning their original opponents to seek revenge on Clark.

But they stood no chance against Clark's spatial sword energy, not even Laufey could withstand it, let alone these ordinary Frost Giants.

"If you're so eager to die, I'll mercifully grant your wish!" Clark unleashed another wave of spatial sword energy, quickly slaying the sixteen Frost Giants.

With that, all seventeen Frost Giants who came to Earth were vanquished.

Clark turned to Tony, "Now, it's time to divide the spoils. These alien bodies have research value; pick a few. I'll notify S.H.I.E.L.D. to collect the rest."

Sharing isn't always rewarding. Just because Clark killed the Frost Giants didn't mean he could take all the bodies.

Like Tony's Iron Man suits, created by himself, still faced societal pressures.

Even Rhodey's War Machine was a compromise.

Anticipating this, Clark and Tony packed the most valuable bodies, then Clark called Director Fury.

"Hello, Director Fury."

Fury responded, "Aren't you fighting those blue creatures? How do you have time to call?"

"The battle is over."

Clark calmly said, "Don't say I don't look out for you. There are thirteen Frost Giant bodies on

for you to collect. It's best if your people can get here before other forces react. However, you'll need to announce to the world that all the Frost Giant bodies have been taken by S.H.I.E.L.D. If you can't assure that, these bodies might mysteriously disappear before your team arrives."

"You want to use S.H.I.E.L.D. as a shield?" Fury's voice carried a hint of displeasure, then he added, "That's not a problem. But if you're still able to fight, you should hurry back to New York. A new enemy has emerged, posing a threat just as serious as the Frost Giants!"

Clark's agreement to distribute the spoils of war wasn't just an act of generosity. It was a strategic move to ensure that the benefits of their victory could be shared without drawing undue attention or controversy. By involving S.H.I.E.L.D., Clark not only managed to secure the valuable Frost Giant corpses for further research but also positioned the agency as a public front, taking the heat off any single individual or party.

This maneuver was typical of Clark's approach throughout the conflict: leveraging his resources and alliances to maximum effect while minimizing the potential for backlash against him and his allies. His ability to think several steps ahead and anticipate the reactions of various parties had been a key factor in their success.

The mention of a new threat in New York underscored the relentless pace of challenges facing Earth's defenders. It was a reminder that even as one crisis was averted or resolved, another loomed on the horizon, requiring constant vigilance and readiness to respond.

Clark's conversation with Fury highlighted the ongoing collaboration between individual heroes and organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D., a partnership that was essential in facing the myriad threats to global safety and security. As Clark prepared to respond to this new challenge, his actions continued to demonstrate the qualities that made him a pivotal figure in the battle to protect Earth: strategic acumen, a willingness to share credit and responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to the greater good.
