I clenched my hands so tight that my knuckles turned white, trembling as I fought the urge to throw something, anything, to make the pain stop.

 The storm in my chest roars louder than the outside world, each beat of my heart like a drum stoking my fury. 

I took a shallow breath, my chest rising and falling unevenly, trying to calm the hurricane inside me.

Kieran.

His name rang in my head repeatedly, and my hand was curled so tight i was sure my fingers must have left permanent marks in my palm.

After weeks of radio silence, Kieran reappeared. I resumed my duty of following him, and the wave of anger that washed through me when I saw him and his ex wife together was enough to leave me dizzy.

I watched them go on private family outings, unable to believe my eyes.
