Chapter 13: Chapter 12 Sloan pov

The Alpha meeting. Only the most intimidating meeting there is to have. Oakley shuffled uncomfortably in my mind. Nervous as I was for what was about to come. We knew we had power to back us. We knew we had support from our pack, our father, and the moon goddess herself. But with everything happening with Willow lately, we just felt inadequate. Slowly other seats in the great hall filled with other alphas from neighboring packs. And then from packs even further out. This was a meeting for alphas across the whole south of the United States. We had been at war just 12 years ago and now we met every summer to remind ourselves that we are greater together. But my aura was strong and noticeably making other alphas on edge. They were squirming in their seats. Making sure to stay as far from me as possible. I had it reigned in so nobody would feel subjected to submit, but let enough out to show who I truly was. As in the end, there would be no hiding it. Ready or not, I am the Alpha of Alphas. I will rule over them all. Even Alphas we do not meet with. I will face challenges and it is best to have the south on our side for my entire packs safety. Safety in numbers and all.

Dad was allowed to come as this was my first meeting as Alpha and his first since stepping down only weeks ago. He sat proudly at my side, unbothered by the strength of my aura. Smiling friendly at our neighboring men. The Lunas often chose not to attend our meeting and held their own near Christmas time. Theirs was really more of a party and feast than a meeting. But hey, I don't blame them. We did have two Lunas in attendance today. Both young and kind looking sitting aside their mates. One appeared to be expecting her first pup soon. I smiled gently her way and gave her mate a friendly gesture of congrats. His cheeks flushed and he shrugged while reaching for her hand. Ah new love. If only my Willow would accept me so freely.

Finally all the alphas are here and our appointed leader by vote, Alpha Greg from Nightshade pack in Georgia stands and clears his throat for our attention.

"Hello Alphas. We have had some changes over the last year. Joining of packs", he says while smiling at the young couples and explaining further why the young Lunas attended-they inherited their own packs and then married causing joining of packs-"new packs have been formed entirely as the number of rogue wolves slowly dwindle down in our areas, and Alpha Henry of Louisiana's Juniper Bayou pack has his own announcement among having stepped down. I will give him the floor first and then we will cover our mundane tasks before eating a joyous meal celebrating another year of friendship among our packs!"

I sigh deeply knowing the evening may not end so well as nervous eyes settle on my father and me. Great job dad, I think sarcastically, now they are all staring. Dad stands, always smiling and gentle with the other alphas. "As you all know I have handed my pack down to my son, Alpha Sloan. He has been a great relief to our members in the past few weeks. Helping our members handle the transition well and stepping up where needed. What we must share with you all is, that he had a vision. In which the first Lycan, Demetri, came to him. Told him his great aura meant that he was to become the next Alpha of Alphas. Meant to lead and bring us together."

As my father finishes speaking people erupt in laughter, anger, and fear all across the room. I hear whispers that I've lost my mind at such a young age. Whispers of there being no such thing as an alpha of alphas any longer. That it was a thing of the past. Not meant for modern world where we can simply vote. And of course the down right bone chilling fear from some Alphas. That I would overtake their packs. Hurt their families. Given no other choice now, I stand and let my aura go. Oaklen whimpers in my mind. Afraid of the anger it would cause. But still prepared to fight and prove our worth. Alphas all around me dropped and bared their necks. Including the Lunas that came with their mates. I pulled it back and watched the shock register across the room. Then I heard the first blood curdling growl. I shifted in an instant. Faster than anyone I knew could. Perhaps faster due to my title. I stood there in my all white fur, Oaklen's growls ripping through the air and shoving our aura toward the threat who found himself completely belly up in seconds.

At that, the rest of the Alphas slowly took a knee and bared their throats of their own accord. Showing me respect in a solemn silence. I feel a new link open in my mind and realize I have created a new mind link among the alphas. I say in a firm and steady voice through it, "I will not harm you, nor your packs. I am meant to make us closer and better. Not rip us all apart." Then I walk off to shift and get dressed again as the other Alphas are left with their jaws on the floor.
