Shen Tianyu turned back around and looked around her at the various shops lining the street. "We should look for an inn to stay in for the night." She said as she went to ask around. Luo Shue and Rong Jian followed her lead.
Ling Le town was a middle-sized town separated into four districts. The district in front of the South gate the three had just gone through was the Shopping District, lined with shops and stores. Further East is where the inns for travelers are located. To the West, is where the residences of the city and the City Lord reside. The "Flower District" is mainly situated in the East with some brothels in the West. At the other end of the town, situated in front of the North Gate is another space belonging to the shopping district.
The three arrived in the East where the inns were situated. Along the way, some people recommended some inns or cautioned which inns ripped off customers while some other people offered to lead them to a particular inn after advertising it to them, most likely residents hired to pull customers.
"The people of this town are nice. They haven't completely shed the kindness and naivety of a quaint little village. This town should be pretty new. The City Lord is amazing to design the districts in such a way, how admirable." Shen Tianyu commented. 'With the way the shopping districts are arranged, there is a higher likelihood of earning more money. The excitement of coming to a new town might compel others to buy things right of the bat, making the location of the shopping districts a strategic move. And the citizen residences are separated from the inns for visitors so the citizens won't be troubled by delinquent customers and the like. In addition, the City Lord lives in the Residential District so if anything happens, the first to be protected will be the residents, as it should be. The Flower District is also placed strategically to earn money. I would certainly like to meet this City Lord who has a good head on his shoulders.'
"Which inn should we stay in?" Rong Jian's question pulled shen Tianyu out of her thoughts.
"Hmm... We probably shouldn't choose the ones that were pulling customers. If their business was doing well, there would be no need to hire someone to pull customers. A second-rate inn should be fine, we just need a place to sleep, after all." Shen Tianyu answered. 'And first-rate inns usually have obnoxious rich kids that I don't want to deal with because they're annoying.' She didn't say her last thought.
After choosing an inn and paying for two rooms for the night, the sun still had yet to set. The three went back to the shopping district in front of the South gate to look around.
"I didn't pay much attention to the shops before but some of them are selling pretty good stuff." Luo Shue commented as she looked around.
"Shue'er, is there any herbs or anything you need? We need to make sure our healer always has enough stock." Shen Tianyu asked Luo Shue.
"There's nothing I particularly need. I haven't started running out of anything since we didn't use much of anything. But Miss, are you sure you should be wondering around here? Shouldn't you be trying to have your breakthrough?" Luo Shue replied and asked another question.
The fights in the Forest of Death have indeed served as good training ans Shen Tianyu had been about to make a breakthrough. But because the miasma in the Forest sucks in spiritual power, she couldn't have a breakthrough so the three had hurried out of the Forest. Though, thanks to Luo Shue, they didn't loose much spiritual power on their journey. Luo Shue had broken through not too long ago before they entered the Forest so she wasn't on the verge of a breakthrough like Shen Tianyu was. In addition, Luo Shue's cultivation talent was low.
"It's fine, it's fine. You need an opportunity to break through. Now that I don't have to worry about getting my spiritual power sucked out, I just need to wait for the right opportunity." Shen Tianyu replied offhandedly. "There's nothing I particularly need to buy, how about you, Rong Jian?" She returned to the topic at hand.
"Hm? There's nothing I need either." Rong Jian said. "Aren't women supposed to have more to buy? If your worried about money, I can help pay." He said, remembering his mother and sister.
"How rude. Not always. Besides, I don't like wasting money on useless things or things I'll only use a few times before it's thrown away. Better to save that money or use it to buy more meaningful things, like food." Shen Tianyu countered.
"I follow in Miss's logic." Luo Shue nodded.
In the evening, the three returned to their selected inn with nothing else in hand. Ling Le town wasn't a big town after all, there wasn't much of value to a prince, a courtesan from a capital city or a doctor.
The next morning, the three set out again. There wasn't much to see in this little town. Incidentally, right after they got out of the town...
"Someone's following us." Shen Tianyu warned. "Sigh... so troublesome. Can't they see we don't have anything? Why are they wasting their time... When did bandits become so stupid?" She lamented.
"Miss, what should we do?" Luo Shue asked from right beside her.
"Let them follow. We don't have any specific destination anyways so there's no harm. We don't know if they're residents form Ling Le city either. If we hurt them so close to the city, we could be the ones in trouble." Tianyu replied.
"Even though, they were following us?" Rong Jian furrowed his brow.
"It certainly is suspicious, but there's no proof they've caused any harm yet. Besides, who would you believe: your family or some strangers?" Tianyu retorted. "If worse comes to worse, we always have my darling fiancee." She smiled at him.
Working on the cover, hopefully it'll be done by the end of the week... My art skills suck, though, so don't hold particularly high expectations.
