Ace POV
She rolled her eyes and raised her hands in surrender.
“You have hearing problems Ace.”
I chuckled, because she knows nothing about what I'm hearing right now. I can hear her heart pounding erratically, and I'm lucky she doesn't have supernatural senses because if she did, she would've known by now that I'm feeling the same way she does.
I grazed her cheeks again and couldn't help but feel my heart aching to touch more of her, Achilles, my wolf wanted nothing more than marking her and completing the mating process, but I can't let him do that. As much as my heart wanted her, I can't forget about my vengeance, I can't forget about the rogues, I can't forget about how strongly I would be leading my pack without any distractions. She's distracting me from my life's purpose. I dropped my hand and turned my gaze from her. She sensed the change in my demeanor and got off of me instantly.
I sat up straight and looked at her, she looked hurt, and averted her gaze.
She cleared her throat and said: “ I have to go.” Her voice was cold and steady, when she looked back at me, her eyes didn't give away her emotions. Without waiting for my answer, she turned away, and left.
“Fuck you Ace, how does leading without a mate would make you stronger?” Achilles my wolf's voice goes off in my head, he's raging by now, and wants to take control of our body, and I have no strength to fight him back on it. So I gave in and let him take over.
He made the change really painful, making me feel every bone in my body breaking apart.
He ran in her direction, and I didn't fight it, he might scare her, but I knew he wouldn't hurt her, as matter of fact, I'm the one who's responsible for this part, the hurting part.
In less than a minute he was right behind her, she slowly turned and locked eyes with Achilles, she gulped, and I could smell her fear, but she didn't act on it, she squared her shoulders and stood still.... Interesting.
Azalea POV
For god's sake, a wolf? No, not just a wolf, a huge wolf. What the hell am I supposed to do?
I know that if I ran, he'll chase after me, I know for a fact since I like wolves and have read a lot about them, I should at least try to submit to him, and hope that he's not hungry or threatened by me so he would eventually lose interest and just go back to his wolfy occupations. Fuck me! seriously Azalea! Definitely not the time for jokes, there’s nothing wolfy about this gigantic wolf.
Okay breath, deep breaths... If you're dying tonight, you won't die a coward, that's what you have been your whole life, but not now, not anymore, I will be fucking eaten by an animal but at least I won't cry and won't submit to this creature.
I squared my shoulders, and stares calmly into his eyes.
These eyes, my god, they are mesmerizing. How crazy I am to feel that he won't attack me, he doesn't seem to be ready to attack, he's analyzing me, just like I'm trying to figure what his next move would be.
“I'm not submitting to you wolf, or whatever you are, so if you want to attack me, do it now and let's get it over with.” I'm officially crazy, and if I get away safely, I should check in a mental institution. The wolf's stance relaxed, he sat on his hind legs, and I swear I could see a hint of a smile.
I sit on my knees without losing eye contact.
“Okay, I know I'm mental just for speaking to you. W...What do you want?”
He slowly stretched his paw to me, and I didn't understand, I've never seen or heard of a wolf acting this way. I stretched my hand and touched his paw, but I quickly retrieved it when I felt tingles, the same tingles I feel with...
“How?” I whispered and the wolf whined and in an instant, he had his head on my knee.
He was too heavy, I stumbled back and fell on my back, and couldn't stop my laughter.
When my laughter episode subsided, I looked at the wolf, who's now lying beside me, his muzzle dangerously grazing my neck, making me feel all tingly, just like Ace made me feel. I let the warmth of the tingles engulf me and stroked his muzzle, he pushed further in the crook of my neck and I stretched my hand to caress the fur behind his ear, he whined.
“Am I imagining things? How are you able to give me tingles like Ace did? …. You probably don't know who he is.... Well, that makes two of us. … I can't figure him out.”
The wolf whined even more and licked my face.
“Yikes... as much as I'm thankful for you cheering me up, but I don't really enjoy saliva all over my face.” then he did it again and I couldn't help but chuckle. I looked at his eyes and couldn’t help but feel confused.
“How does your eyes look so familiar, how... W....Why do you remind of Ace, why am I even thinking about that pretentious ass? But your eyes... How am I even alive? I mean you're a wolf, a big one at that, but we're here … What … cuddling?! W... What the hell? I sat down and cover my face with my hands in frustration. When I uncovered my face and opened my eyes, he's gone, the wolf is gone.
Did I imagine all of it? I quickly got up and sprinted towards the car. Once inside I drove to the house.
When I arrived, Carter was waiting for me by the front door, when I saw him I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. He came to the car and opened my door for me.
“Let's get you inside, we have to talk.”
I nodded and followed him inside.
