Early in the morning, Jaylene hadn't yet gotten out of bed when Alisha's phone call came.

Because it's not advised to use mobile phones during pregnancy, Joseph had specially branched a line from the landline to the upstairs bedroom to make it convenient for Jaylene to talk on the phone while lying in bed with relatives and friends.
