They were somewhere in the street inside the Suvain Kingdom, But Bast did not care, blinded by tears she punched and bit at Ra as she sobbed, "How could you!" she shouted and Ra glanced around wildly to see if she had attracted any attention as he tried to console her. "Shh," he said, cupping her face in his hand, "there is only you, there has only ever been you." he whispered as he claimed her mouth with his. Warm, salty tears spilled onto his lips as he kissed her, her violent heaving sobs still causing her to choke as she fought the pain threatening to burst from her ribs. He caressed her sides and ran his hands up and over her shoulders, his long fingers traveled beneath her hair to the base of her neck, where he gently massaged her throat. Her tears began to slow and her sobs did not come as often, her eyes, red and puffy were incarnadine around those beautiful green orbs. Ra sighed as he fell to his knees to rest his head in the hollow of her neck, his arms wound tightly around her waist. He kissed the base of her throat and his heart soared when he felt her fingers entwine with strands of his hair. He looked up to see her fighting an internal struggle with her own emotions, "This time it won't be so simple," he thought bitterly, and he made a silent vow to never again allow another woman to catch him off guard lest he lose the only woman he truly loved.
"LOOK, WHAT'S THAT?" A shout shattered their silent embrace and they sprang apart and cast their gaze about wildly. Bast grabbed his arm with surprising strength, "Ra, there." she said with a slightly shaking voice at a strange light in the sky. Ra followed where she was pointing and quickly found what thousands of people in the street were gaping at. A rift, and it was growing. Ra grabbed Bast and flew into the air, making sure to keep her behind him. The rift continued to grow, suddenly the first creatures flew out, big winged red skinned creatures with huge glassy black eyes and fangs protruding from their lips, Ra tried to soul form, "Dammit!" he snarled as he remembered his soul had healed itself, he racked his brains, "Anima, what can I- "In the midst of his thoughts and panic a large spatial gate has opened in front of the rift which was now spitting out several thousand of those red skinned creatures. They flew at peoples homes, ripping them apart and grabbing women and small children. From the spatial gate emerged 7 Warriors, dressed in celestial armor and emitting a divine air. They were armed with weapons that gave off a devastating aura, A man stepped forward, "He must be their leader," Ra gasped in astonishment as he looked on. "PELAGIS!" he bellowed, "SHOW YOURSELF!" and from the rift stepped out a figure, more beast than man, with blood red eyes and armor-like skin clothed in black robes and wielding a length of gnarled wood sporting glowing runic patterns. "Ah, Avaris," he said and his voice did not match his appearance, it was soothing like flowing water. "We meet again," and a twisted smile curved his scaly lips as he spoke. "I thought...you wished to remain behind...and save those vermin from the floods, tsk, cannot say I blame you," he said shaking his head, "they were hardly worth saving." Anger, regret, and hatred filled the man named Avaris' eyes, Ra could not detect how strong he was but when the man emitted his aura; he felt his flesh burn. "You will pay for what you did to the Bublaid's Sirrah!" Avaris shouted hatefully, "But you will not repeat your disgusting act here! Naila, Go!" and the woman named Naila brandished a glowing blue staff. Ra felt that what was coming was sure to be dangerous, and he distanced himself and Bast from the scene, and not a moment too soon, thick golden chains burst forth in every direction, golden spear heads were attached to the end of each chain and they flew through the air so fast they appeared as a blur to Ra's eyes. "Ganelon!" Avaris shouted and a huge broad shouldered man stepped out of Avaris' shadow, he seemed to grow in size slightly as he moved forward slowly at first, so slowly Ra didn't believe he would contribute anything to the battle before it was over. In the next moment however, Ganelon was behind Pelagis, standing inside an aura that looked like a much larger version of himself, his great arms wrapped around the form of Pelagis, binding him. "Good!" Avaris shouted and his face revealed a look of determination, two golden sabers appeared, one in each hand, "For Arda!" he yelled and like a ray of light he shot towards the bound Pelagis, "For Arda!" his companions roared as one. As Avaris' twin sabers plunged into Pelagis' chest and Pelagis exploded into wisps of murky black smoke. Avaris panted heavily holding his twin sabers, it was clear that he had fought a long battle, and it wasn't limited to merely what had taken place here. He glanced at his companions who were as of this moment still restraining their urge to cheer, he smiled weakly at them all and as one their voice split the air, "YAAAAAAAA!" seeing this Ra decided he would take care of the red skinned creatures currently wreaking havoc on the towns below. It did not take long before he and Bast had rounded up and slaughtered each one, thousands of bleeding corpses were piled outside the city, their purple blood staining the ground before Bast ignited the steaming pile and burned them to ash.
"Wait!" Ra shouted as he flew back and stopped in front of the man named Avaris, who had opened a spatial gate. "Wait, who are you?" Avaris turned to look at him, he stared into Ra's eyes for a long moment and Ra was beginning to feel uncomfortable when he answered: "We are...God's Chosen," he said softly, "The guardians of living creatures within his realms, our duty is to find and defeat the Suahc, the poison of realms." He said simply, "Sorry," Ra said, confused, "What are Suahc?" The man nodded as if to say that this question was reasonable and he looked at Ra with a trace amount of respect, "in your tongue, you would name them Goblins." Ra's eyes grew large and they flicked between each of the figures before him as if waiting for someone to say that it was a joke, however their expressions remained somber? "That...thing...so powerf- That was a goblin?!" Avaris nodded, "The Suahc are highly intelligent, and powerful, they shape forces in magic that you or I cannot touch or would want to even if we could, it is foul magic, beyond darkness, that is why we exist. Arcane magic is ancient, but before the Suahc- it is merely throwing eggs at walls. Only divine magic has a chance of causing any sort of damage." he said gravely.
Ra pondered this for a moment, "Divine magic...Is it possible- that is to say, can I learn divine spells?" Avaris looked at him curiously, he opened his mouth- then closed it. It seemed like he was thinking very hard about something but in the end he had no choice but to say: "You're still too weak." Ra's face fell, "I see," and he thought, "Even now, with all this power at my fingertips- I'm still not strong enough." Then Avaris spoke again, "When you reach...Full Godling....Visit Arda," he said slowly, "Then, perhaps....it may be possible, I'll be waiting for you." he smiled. Ra felt a certain degree of euphoria well up within his chest at the thought of joining Avaris in a different world, "Until then," he said and he held out his hand, Avaris shook it and they parted, Ra watched the gate close behind them, "Arda huh?" and he returned to the ground to stand at Basts' side watching the smoking remains of those red skinned creatures with his face buried in her hair.
