" Madam how can you be so cold towards your own child, please explain to me why? Hasn't she suffered enough." William Russell asked, his voice shaking with frustration and sadness, this time he couldn't take it anymore, for so many years he ignored the little schemes the family threw towards his third daughter because of her past mistake.
But that was a mistake and it has been so many years now and everything became for almost two decades, hence he naively thought everything was going well.
How could he have expected that for so many years his third daughters family is still been targeted and the very woman who gave birth to her and carried her for nine months let other branch families to almost bully her and her family towards the dead.
Elizabeth, stood firm, her expression unyielding.
" Explain, what is there to explain, third daughter made her choices, and now she must live with them."
"But why must you punish her children? Your grandchildren as well." The old patriarch pressed on, though he was angry this time he was amiable towards his wife.
" You and I Know better than anyone that they didn't do anything wrong. And yet, you have them working for nothing and no recognition."
Elizabeth's expression didn't waver. "Isn't because I think that they are family that I still let them work there. They should be grateful for the opportunity to work and not snitching my back."
"Grateful?" William's voice rose. "You call this grateful? You're exploiting them, Elizabeth. Taking advantage of their desperation. And for what? So you can justify your own biases against our daughter?"
Elizabeth's eyes flashed with anger, but William stood his ground, his eyes locked on hers, filled with a deep sadness and disappointment and he continues...
" What is this about? Hmm."
"Twenty-five years ago, she made one mistake, and you've never forgiven her," the father said, his voice shaking with anger and sadness.
The mother stood firm, her expression unyielding and rage slowly boiling within her.
"She brought shame to our family, the moment she elopet with that...that man. And now you are expecting us to welcome her with open arms? never."
"She's our daughter, for goodness' sake!" the father exclaimed. "And she's struggling. She needs our help, our support."
Elizabeth snorted and turned away."She's a burden. Always has been, always will be. Those children of hers, have no prospects, and have no future. We should be focusing on our fourth son, he's the one with the bright future ahead of him."
The father's face turned red with rage. "You're willing to disown your own daughter, your own flesh and blood, just to favor our son? What kind of mother are you?"
The old matriarch expression didn't waver, she had long gave up on her useless daughter of hers.
"I'm being practical, that's all. We can't afford to waste our resources on someone who's never going to amount to anything."
The father shook his head, disgust etched on his face. "I don't recognize the woman you've become. You're not the woman I married, the one who loved and cared for our children without condition."
" EXCUSE ME!!"
The old woman shouted rage gripping armrest of the chair tightly and almost fainting from anger seeing the her old man walking away just made her more furious.
" Fine, why not just go live with your good daughter!!!"
.....
Ellen and Lucas approached Andre, their faces etched with gratitude. "Thank you so much, sir." Ellen said, her voice sincere. "We don't know what we would have done if you hadn't helped us."
Lucas nodded in agreement while expressing his gratitude as well.
"Yeah, thank you. You're a lifesaver."
Andre smiled slightly, his eyes warm with kindness. "You're welcome. I'm just glad I could help."
Ellen's expression turned curious.
"Sir ,can I ask you something?" she said, her voice hesitant.
"Of course, miss" Andre replied. "What's on your mind?"
Ellen took a deep breath before speaking. "I know this might sound weird, but...do you think we might be related?" she asked, her eyes searching Andre's face.
Andre's expression faltered for a moment, and he looked taken aback by the question. "What makes you think that?" he asked, his voice a little amused.
Seeing that Andre did not immediately get worked up.
Ellen's eyes locked onto Andre's. "It's just that...you look a lot like our mom. Aurora. And there are other similarities too...the way you smile, your eyes...it's like looking at a male version of my elder sister."
Lucas's eyes widened in surprise, and he looked at Andre with newfound interest. Andre's face, however, remained impassive, his eyes giving away nothing.
