Chapter 38: Resurfaced Memories.

''Isaac.'' Isabella narrowed her eyes dangerously.

Alice had her arms crossed, and she dug her fingers on her palm with enough strength to make it bleed.

''It's alright,'' Isaac said gently, and the girl soon stopped crying— with embarrassment, she wiped her tears and hid her face in Isaac's chest.

There are suddenly over a dozen strangers in her room!

Isaac looked towards his family and said, ''Why are you here?''

''You went missing.'' Isabella said coldly, ''Why didn't you have your phone with you? We couldn't use the tracker.''

Isaac searched his pockets, and then he remembered that he had changed clothes in the morning.

His phone was in the pocket of his previous pants.

But then he remembered one thing, ''Tracker?'' Isaac frowned.

Isabella whistled innocently.

Isaac sighed and rubbed his forehead.

''Big brother. Who is she?'' Alice asked with a poker face, but the rage could clearly be felt from her.

''Ah, right.'' Isaac turned his gaze towards the shy girl, ''I didn't get your name.''

She looked shyly around the room— she moved her head towards Isaac's ear and whispered, ''My name is Luna.''

''Luna...'' Isaac said quietly.

''What is yours?'' Luna asked with a nervous heartbeat. She could feel Isaac's hot breath on her neck, making her pale face redder.

''Isaac,'' Isaac replied.

''Isaac...'' Luna said quietly, printing that name on her mind.

''Who is she?'' Alice asked impatiently— she gritted her teeth seeing the two whispering with each other with such intimacy.

Luna stopped hugging Isaac and lowered her head shyly.

She used the blanket to cover her body, and she wished that the blanket was bigger so that she could hide her whole body.

''Her name is Luna. I met her not long ago.''

Maxwell nodded and saw the Legendary VR Helmet.

He looked towards Luna with a curious expression— he had a hunch that this innocent girl wasn't very ordinary.

''Isaac, I think we should return,'' Isabella said gently.

Alice nodded firmly.

Isaac sighed and stood up.

''Y-You are leaving?'' Luna asked with a dejected face.

Isaac sadly smiled and nodded, ''It was nice meeting you— I hope we meet again.''

''O-Oh, okay...'' She watched as Isaac and others left the room.

Isaac took another glance towards her and locked gazes with her.

Luna waved her frail hand.

Isaac smiled and left the room.

Luna sighed and lay down on the bed. She is alone once again but in White Online... She can forget all about it.

She put the VR Helmet on her head and closed her eyes.

She might not be able to leave the hospital because of her illness, but in White Online, she could do anything she wanted.

...

Isaac and others reached the Whitelock Residence.

Alice, Marvin, and Mark left for school.

Isabella and Maxwell left for work.

Maxwell is the CEO of Whitelock Company, while Isabella is a clothing designer and a very successful one.

Her clothes are being sold worldwide, and it isn't farfetched to say that she earns as much as Maxwell's company.

But, now Maxwell's company invested in White Online, and it will be make it or break it for their company.

Either their company will be stuck in Winterland, or they can spread to other Continents and improve their profits by a hundredfold.

Isaac waved his hand as others left.

He was left alone, except there were hundreds of bodyguards and servants taking care of the mansion.

He entered the mansion and took off his winter jacket, and put it on the hanger then put his shoes on the shoe rack, but after that, he didn't go upstairs— instead, he walked past the stairs and walked to the end of the corridor where one door was located.

After the door was opened, a large room, which looked like a gym, became visible. This was Whitelock's personal gym, and there were already a dozen bodyguards exercising.

They saw Isaac appearing— they stopped what they were doing and bowed.

Isaac nodded and went towards the dumbbells.

He is athletic enough to run 2km without getting exhausted, but his physical strength is nonexistent.

He took the 5kg dumbbells and started lifting them up.

But, that alone gave him difficulties. He gritted his teeth and did squats while holding the dumbbell.

Drops of sweat appeared on his delicate forehead, and soon his face was drenched in sweat.

''Huff... Huff...'' He did 10 squats before he had to stop to catch a breath.

''Young master.'' Isaac turned his head and saw Michael and Richard coming with tight shirts and pants, which outlined their perfect muscular bodies clearly.

Isaac nodded with a tired expression, and then he asked, ''W-Why doesn't my strength increase?''

Michael wryly smiled, ''Young master, I don't know.''

They have done a training routine for Isaac, which should improve physical strength— it has worked for every bodyguard so far.

But Isaac is an exception.

Isaac sat down on the floor with a defeated expression. His chest went up and down, and he tried to calm down his breathing.

Michael offered a towel, which Isaac took with gratitude.

He wiped his sweat from his face and from his collarbone.

''Young Master, you don't need to be sad. Strength is not everything.'' Richard mentioned.

Michael nodded, ''Your stamina is as great as bodyguards— you need to use that to your advantage.''

Isaac listened to their advice— he nodded with gratitude and stood up.

''I will go take a snack— you guys want any?'' Isaac asked.

Michael and Richard smiled and shook their heads.

Isaac left the gym and entered the kitchen.

When he was about to open the refrigerator, a stinging pain appeared on his head.

''Argh!'' Isaac fell down on his knees— he clutched his head in agony.

The memories he wanted to forget resurfaced.

Dozen people with ski masks on their faces and the sound of their laughter when their fists and kicks crushed his bones.

Minutes later, the headache disappeared, but the memories are still vivid in his mind.

Isaac took a deep breath as cold sweat poured from his forehead.

''Oliver... Were you one of them?'' Isaac's eyes went cold.

He wiped the dust from his pants and opened the refrigerator.

That incident happened one year ago, and doctors thought that the trauma would hinder Isaac's daily life for a long time.

But, Isaac overcame the trauma in only 2 weeks! But, it doesn't mean that it is over completely.

The doctors could only look with amazement as Isaac acted like nothing had happened.

They even did brain scans if there was any damage there, but he was completely fine... Except, he had to stay in a wheelchair for half a year.

His parents, with absolute determination, wanted to find who the men with ski masks were, but they never found out. They had never stopped searching, and once they found out... Only hell awaits for the men with ski masks.

But, now Isaac had a hunch that everything had to do with Oliver.

With a firm look, he looked outside the window.

He could get Marvin to gather his friends and storm towards Oliver's house and make him suffer, but Isaac had other plans.

He will use Oliver to find the identity of the men with ski masks. He wants to find their motive... And he wants to have his revenge by his own hands.

Isaac was tired of being a weak and protected individual.

Maybe after his revenge... He could finally hold his head high.

Chapter 39: Contenders.

Isaac finished his breakfast and went back to his room.

The mansion was eerily quiet— the only sound that came was from his footsteps and the distinct voices of servants.

He didn't go straight to the wardrobe to get his VR Helmet. He sat down on his desk and opened the laptop.

During the car ride, he remembered one thing.

He started searching about Legacy Tournaments.

Apparently, he is now a Legacy Tournament Contender. He had a small hope of finding anything about it, but at least he tried.

Isaac sighed and looked at the text on the screen [Nothing Found]

There seem to be two other Tournament Contenders, maybe even more now.

He thought that even one person would leak the news— it can be one way to fame.

Everyone would be curious about the so-called Legacy Tournament and might end up looking forward to his forums, and who knows, if he was a streamer, his views would skyrocket.

But, no one leaked anything.

There have been a few leaking about some mundane things, which is quite known by now, but some stuff surprised Isaac.

Apparently, there are items that give you XP boost, HP Restoring boost, and much more.

XP boost is quite simple— it gives more XP after each kill.

HP Restoring boost will restore your HP quicker.

Some people had a Common rank, and the HP got restored in only 9 minutes.

The 1-minute difference can be huge, depending on the situation.

For Isaac, waiting for 10 minutes with 1 HP was a nightmare— he never knew when he could lose his life.

Even 1 minute less would have made it much more bearable.

Having an XP boost is a dream come true for every player, but apparently, it cannot be bought, at least not for now. It can be dropped by some Beasts, but it is a rare thing to happen.

Beasts are much more valuable than Wild Animals as well, they give many more White Coins and more XP, but they are stronger than the majority of players.

'Should I...' Isaac was biting his nails and thought about one important decision.

Should he do his own forum post and talk about the Legacy Tournament...

He highly doubted that anyone would believe it, but it might bring other Legacy Tournament Contenders' attention.

But... There is one big problem.

Isaac shook his head and closed the laptop.

'They will definitely hunt me down if they find out...' Isaac sighed.

He might lose the Tournament Contender title if he dies, or other players will just hunt him down to make his level lower before the tournament.

He cannot expect them to play fairly when the Mythical Legacy is on the line.

Isaac already saw how desperate Kornelius was to get a Godly Legacy.

Some people treat the Mythical Legacy as peak Legacy because the Godly Legacy is just so rare that finding it is harder than winning in the lottery.

Isaac isn't that interested in Legacies, even though it is a life changing item.

Players aren't aware yet that getting a Legacy is the easy part.

Keeping it is the hard part.

They cannot die as a Legacy Holder— otherwise, they will lose the Legacy, and someone else can get it.

In the future, there will be a lot of Legacy Hunters trying to kill Legacy Holders so that their Legacies will return to the game.

Isaac went to the bathroom, grabbed the pants he used yesterday, and took the phone from the pocket.

The first thing he did was remove the tracker app from his phone.

His mother hid it well, but Isaac still found it.

He double-checked if there were multiple tracker apps, but there weren't.

Next was the thing he was most excited about.

Surprisingly.

It was time to enter White Online once again.

He opened the doors of the wardrobe, grabbed the box, and opened it.

A familiar blue VR Helmet was waiting for him.

He grabbed the VR Helmet and laid down on his bed.

''Phew...'' Isaac took a deep breath and put the VR Helmet on his head.

[Connecting...]

[Welcome to White Online!]

[Legacies Await You!]

...

Isaac opened his eyes, and an unfamiliar white ceiling appeared in his vision.

He looked around the room, and now he remembered where he was.

In his newly rented room.

*Ding* *Ding*

A message popped up in Isaac's vision— he didn't even have time to stand up.

[Legacy Tournament Commences in 6 Days 0 hour 3 minutes]

[Contenders: 27]

''27?!'' Isaac shouted with disbelief— he almost fell down from the bed.

There were still 6 days left— he felt like the number of participants in the tournament wouldn't be low.

''This will be difficult...'' He rubbed his forehead and stood up from his bed. He was wearing his plain white t-shirt and brown leather pants.

Isaac pressed a few buttons in the air, and his Chain Armor appeared on his body, covering every part of his skin except his face.

He left his room and went downstairs.

The room was very quiet— the only sound that came was from the creaking of the floor.

''Bella?'' Isaac said aloud, but he didn't receive a reply.

''She must be out.'' Isaac thought aloud and put his Inventory in front of him— he saw that his keys were on the Inventory.

He needs those if he wants to return to the house— he doesn't know how long Bella will be out.

He doesn't really know what he would do either. Last night's memory of carnage in Beast Forest made him reluctant to go here.

Isaac left the house and started walking towards the exit of the neighborhood.

He received a few raised eyebrows from the nearby civilians, they had never seen him after all, and the Chain Armor didn't really fit Isaac's innocent and adorable face.

Soon, Isaac entered the gates of the neighborhood, where two guards were standing.

They were different ones from yesterday, and they didn't even blink as Isaac left the neighborhood.

Even while walking, Isaac can see the massive mountain and the royal palace in the distance.

It literally screamed the word Majesty.

It makes everyone feel small in front of the mountain, but it also makes the Royals look like Gods who are watching their citizens, like Gods are watching humans somewhere in the World of White.
