"What!? So the office belongs to the Porter group?" Rose's surprised scream stopped Mai who was going to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

"Not really, but some of our assets already belong to them. It's the same as they already own my office. I don't want to tell you but... I want you to be ready." Harry's next voice sounded worried. Silently Mai peeked from behind the cupboard. Eavesdropping on parents' conversations like this is indeed impolite but what can be done, she was curious after the Porter group was mentioned in their second chat.

"Ready for what? How come I feel so bad," said Rose.

"There's a . . . layoff to save on operations and I'm afraid I'll get hit too. We're working on paying off those debts," said Harry.
