Synopsis
"I thought I'd sworn off the path of taking lives. Seems like changing one's ways isn't as simple as turning a page."
"That's why, for a brief instance, I embraced the ebbing of my own life. It was a miracle, really, a fleeting moment where I tasted oblivion."
Xin, once a warrior in his last life, met his end on the battlefield. His final memory was painted in the scarlet hues of a sky he chose not to save himself from. Once an innocent child forced by the government into the brutal role of a foot soldier, he knew the horrors of war all too well. But now, reborn into the modern world, Xin grapples with a different kind of struggle—a world of portals, towers, and systems that defy his frame of reference. His aversion to killing remains steadfast, yet circumstances demand he fights these monsters. He justifies his actions with a bitter smile, whispering that they're 'just monsters, after all.' With a family to protect, Xin walks this perilous new path, unaware that his every step weaves a fresh collection of nightmares.

I think this novel has a lot of potential for growth, the way the setting and the actions are described paints a vivid picture in the mind of the reader. There’s a lot of emotion in the early story, a good start so far

Overall it's a great novel. Plus points are it's great descriptive writing and the personality of the characters. Even the evil character William kind of feels real since he has faced a dark past. This novel is emotional roller coaster with sadness and rage laced in it. I want to see more pls continue author
