Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Last Man Standing

* Battle report *

* An unknown troop had succeeded in taking Prince Emvis from the rear. A group led by a local Lord, the Dreiser family. However, the man was smart and he too had managed to take them from behind. But not just on the plains, off the barely guarded harbor of Solon, the Adrun fleet was approaching. Now he and Jeremy were staring at each other. If Emvis kept his cool Jeremy's gaze was frustrated and doubtful *.

-You seem to have forgotten that we came here by boat. * Said Emvis *.

-From the start ... Wait, we never got an exact number on their strengths. * Thought Jeremy *. This means that at the present time we do not know how many of them will land. Bad luck.

- You made a big mistake by underestimating me. Taking my head is not as easy as you wanted to think.

-Your plan was to pull us away from the city to take us back.

- Basic isn't it? But I have some worries too, and Lord Dreiser seems unstoppable.

* Dreiser was provided with a sacred relic. His sword was a gray blade that turned purple and cast beams of light at will. As he made his way through the D'Emvis lines, chopping off the heads of his soldiers, a man knocked out by him blocked the path with his sword. He was young but his hair was blue and smooth *.

-Look ... it's Bauer.

-The ambush unit is finally back.

* Dreiser pushed back Bauer, but the latter was so agile that he avoided the attack. However, his horse was killed in the process. Dreiser then took off his helmet and a woman with a tanned complexion and purple hair could be seen.

-He ... But ... But it's a woman. Where's Lord Dreiser?

-Lord Dreiser is dead. Lady Schnee is in charge of the house. * Replied one of his men *.

-I finally come across one of those famous Killicks. But I don't have time to play with you. Get out of my way kid. * She said with a look of disgust *.

* Dion then disembarked and struck a blow but she parried him without even looking at him. The young man was covered in blood from head to toe and he had a bandage on his arm. This did not prevent him from giving orders *.

-Reform the ranks. Your attitude dishonours Adrun's military know-how. Put up a shield wall and have the Archers stand by.

-You are both painful. So I'll start by ripping your head off.

-It's not just mine that can be torn off. * Dion said, pointing his sword in his direction *.

* From where he was Emvis smiled when he saw the efficiency with which these two youngsters had managed to stop Dreiser *.

-He's got it in Arguson's stomach. But hey, he will hardly save time.

* He turned to Jeremy but the young man had taken advantage of the diversion to load the king onto a horse before galloping at full speed into the city. Dion and Bauer's 2,000 men had succeeded in stopping Dreiser's 5,000 men. The 15,000 men of the princes turned around to support them *.

- Looks like it's starting to smell scorched to you Lord ... Lady Dreiser. * Dion says as Emvis joins them *.

* Dreiser's blade returned to normal and a soldier blew into a horn. In the distance we could see another troop of soldiers coming back. They too had the panther emblem on their flag. Dreiser put his helmet back on his head and his eyes turned purple in turn *.

-It's not true. * Said Dion shocked *. They are twice as many now.

-It's actually easy 10 miles with these reinforcements. * Said an advisor to Emvis *.

-It looks like ... I couldn't cross swords with my friend. * He said, drawing his two sabers *.

* The prince mounted his horse and had armor placed on his chest. His eyes turned blue as his army lined up in front of him. The two generals observed each other for a long time then raised their arms *.

-LOAD

-LOAD

* For his part, Jeremy galloped to the door as the few remaining soldiers returned inside the walls with Ambrosius. The latter brought up the rear with his riders. The king, although exhausted, managed to hold the straps of his horse *.

-Majesty are you okay? * Jeremy asked *. A little more and ...

-What you did today ... is fit for a king.

- Again with that. I already told you that ...

-There are not many men of your caliber, very few capable of accomplishing what you did today. In addition to being a good warrior, you are also a fine strategist.

-I just told Lady Dreiser what she wanted to hear. She is not our ally, she has her sights set on the throne.

-You know all that and you still call it that proves that you can make tough decisions. Moreover you are not a Hyppocrite nor a selfish one. You know when to think about others and when to make tough choices.

-Your majesty I ....

* He just couldn't find an answer. The door was still open and most of the men were entering *.

-When all this is over, I sincerely consider bequeathing my throne to you.

-Majesty I you .....

* The king brutally spat blood. A javelin sprang from his back and impaled him causing him to take off from his horse and fall inside the yard. This sight shocked Jeremy to the highest point who turned and saw right behind him. A black man with azure hair *.

-YOU. * He said annoyed *.

* It was Kord who had awakened. The Killick was on edge and howled like a beast. Jeremy stopped his horse right in front of the entrance and spun around *.

-I'm going to blow your head this time.

-Approach motherfucker. You should have dipped your weapon in andromeda vein.

-I will make it yours ...

-Lord Hanneman. * Yelled a young boy *. This is not the moment.

* A young man armed with a bow and arrow approached and patted him on the shoulder *.

-We have to fall back.

-You are right Evan. Sorry, the king must be my priority.

* Jeremy *

* I was angry but there was nothing I could do. Evan had more of his head on his shoulders than me right now. The son of Count Gustave. Besides, where the old man had passed. I glanced around and saw him getting his arm treated. The gates were now closed and much of their army was forced to confront the Dreiser. I got down and threw myself on the king. The spear punctured the abdomen but he was still alive *.

-Majesty ... Don't move. We ... We will take care of you.

-You really think ? I'm fucked up no.

-No you're just .... Old. * I say with a smile *.

-You think ?

* The old man, despite his injuries, stood up, leaning on his sword. All the soldiers looked at him admiringly then he put his hand on my shoulder and announced *.

- Listen to me all. I hand over my army ... and my kingdom ... to this young man. He will know how to put it to good use, no better use than I do at this very moment. I am...

* He put one knee on the ground but I support him with both arms *.

-Majesty stop moving you ...

* The doctors came back and took him on board to treat him at the palace. I did not know that at that precise moment King Alto de Solon ... had just died in my arms. After the king's announcement most of the officers and nobleman even Count Gustave bowed down to me. What the hell did I do to deserve this? *.

-STANDING. * I screamed *.

* Everyone got up immediately *.

- Now is not the time for ceremonies. The Killicks will soon dock on our coast through the port and we do not know how many they will be. But one thing is certain we will fight.

* The men nodded in approval. Seeing all these deaths and all these injuries had not softened them, on the contrary they were more motivated than ever *.

-We will fight in the streets, in the sewers, in the houses, centimeters by centimeters until there is no more ... NONE OF THEM

-HOURAAAAA

-The Killicks say KURAHEEEE. Well I give you the meaning today. KILL THEM ALL. KURAHEEEE

-KURAHEEEEEEEE

* The soldiers now galvanized by my speech slammed shields with their blades. They wanted to do battle *.

-How much are the losses?

-25 miles. * Replied Aldos *. If we count with the city garrison, we only have 25,000 men left.

- Opposite they lost half of their right wing. * Said Ambrosius *. But the 20 miles led by women are almost distinct.

-If we consider that the prince is busy fighting with Dreiser that puts us on an equal footing. *I said*. Ambrosius, Gustave, you will take command of the wall troop. I leave you 15,000 men, that will be more than enough.

-Yes my Lord. * They did *.

* Damn I'm still not used to this. I approached the young infantryman I had spotted during the battle. He wasn't as anxious as when I met him. There was blood on his face. That face was not that of a kid, it was that of ... of a man *.

-Gavin.

-Yes sir. * He replied calmly *

-You grew up here?

-Yes sir but why are you asking me that?

-Sir Evan.

* The young man pulled his quiver back into his back *.

-Listen to me carefully because the life of all citizens depends on it.

* After having explained my plan to them they recovered the rest of the garrison and went to the port *.

-The king may be dead. But I tell you my brothers we will fight. Until the last man. Standing. KURAHEEE
