Chapter 17: Chapter 16: The Dragon's Descent

At last the demon witch Ning was defeated and that peace returned to the Dragon Blade's Kingdom. King Fu Xiaoxing thanked the adventurers alongside Wei Yue for their efforts and above them all, his loyal servant, Luo Na who stayed vigilant.

"I have done many ungrateful things including the fact that I had destroyed your kingdom, killed and enslaved your people, how may I repay you, your highness?" King Fu Xiaoxing presented himself and bowed in front of Wei Yue but Wei Yue stooped down and raised Fu Xiaoxing up.

"I already know that it wasn't of your doing. If we hadn't learned about Ning's involvement, then we would've stayed blind about everything." Wei Yue said raising his staff against the witch bound in shackles.

The witch Ning had her hands bound by holy jade chains and her mouth sealed by a golden cloth embroidered with dragons and incantation markings forbidding her to enchant any spell of some sort.

The security around her is very tight. Seven guards are placed outside her cell armed with jade spears.

Meanwhile, Wei Yue and his friends were invited at the king's round table to discuss everything that happened during the time where King Fu Xiaoxing was unconscious and controlled by Ning.

"The witch's power comes from where? I have never seen someone displayed such puissant enchantment before." Luo Na brought up the discussion before the King. Fu Xiaoxing sighed and clutched his hand one after another.

"Well, I know that Ning was one of my consorts and I never knew who she was and where she came from." King Fu shrugged at her. Luo Na squinted her eyes in dismay.

"That's why you should never marry someone you barely know!" Luo Na angrily screamed and laid out a whole line of scolding litany against the king.

"Sister Luo is such a scary person..." Elaa said with her eyes averted away.

"Well, I like how she usually is." Zhao said trying to stop her mouth from bursting into laughter.

"Ah forgive us everyone, this is how Luo Na and my Father usually acts up. You see, Luo Na is the general of the Dragon Blade's army and she's like a sister to me... Uh no... More like a tyrant." Zhang scratched his head and bowed many times to express his deepest apology.

After the tension dissipated, the King cleared his throat and made an announcement.

"It is about time that I select the one that will fit to accept the Heavenly Dragon's trial."

After he said these words, Luo Na's mood changed from being lively into being shocked. She just stood there stiff and then sat beside General Hua.

"Something is troubling you, what is it?" General Hua whispered to her ears while the others were discussing.

Luo Na never said a word and just stiffly sat there looking at the distance. Her mind has been bothered by what the king had announced.

"Xian Hua." King Fu called his attention.

"Yes?" General Hua replied and stood from his seat.

"Keep seated!" Luo Na kicked General Hua's feet making him sat down on his chair.

"What is wrong with you, Luo Na!" General Hua raised his hand but Luo Na threw one of her daggers piercing his palm.

"I would never let you!" Luo Na screamed.

The fight is on. General Hua removed the dagger from his hand where the wound healed quickly like it was nothing.

"Stupendous yet how charming of you, so you want to compete for the Heavenly Dragon?" General Hua asked her and then threw the dagger back at her which she evaded precisely.

"Who said about my sister competing for my own hand?" A mysterious man ascended from the shadows and appeared before them.

"Brother let him be! He's just an idiot!" Luo Na tried to explain so that her brother would hear him out but Xiao Na kicked him out of the way.

"Enough! Let's settle this with combat to the death!" Xiao attacked General Hua and soon, the round table became a fiasco.

"ENOUGH!"

King Fu shouted and both of them stopped fighting.

"This argument can be settled once the Gu Qin Divinator arrives!" With a clap of King Fu's hands, their weapons lose power.

"But my king! You promised me before that I can be the next Heavenly Dragon..." Xiao Na knelt in front of him but King Fu shook his head and said...

"I will let the Heavenly dragon decide whom of you is fit to have his power, the Gu Qin divinator must have arrived now and-"

King Fu stopped saying anything after the Yuyao Bells rang. The Gu Qin divinator has arrived.

"All of you come to the back palace." King Fu let them outside and then walked to the back palace. There, the Gu Qin divinator is playing her zither and every sound echoed from the distance. Each time she hits strings, the zither glows.

"Xiao Na and Xian Hua. I have been waiting for you, please one of you, step forward and let the music lead you one step closer to the Heavenly Dragon."

Xiao Na stepped inside the circle first knocking Xian out of the way. When he was inside the circle, he sat down like buddha on lotus and meditated.

«Inside the Parallel plane of Dragons»

"Xiao Na... Xiao Na... Awaken my child." The Heavenly Dragon beckoned him forth and Xiao Na opened his eyes.

"Where am I?" He asked the supreme divine creature.

"You are in the realm of dragons, Xiao Na... Now... To begin your test... Please place your hands on the divine crystal in front of you."

The Dragon led Xiao Na ay the divine crystal. At first, Xiao Na hesitated putting his hands on the crystal.

"I... My hands... How will I know that this is not some kind of trick-" Xiao Na bluffingly said at the Dragon.

"There is no trick. Please place your hands on the crystal." The dragon replied.

Xiao placed his hands on the crystal and the crystal glowed and flashed back memories of his childhood and memories with him and his sister.

"This is..."

After a short while, the crystal's ambience changed from an innocent show of childhood into bloodshed, chaos and ruin.

Xiao Na took off his hands away from the crystal shaking.

"Your heart is blinded by bloodshed and revenge. You are not fit to uphold my powers."

Xiao Na screamed as the Dragon unleashed his flaming breath upon Xiao Na. While his body is consumed by the flames, flashes of memory where bloodshed and destruction lingered upon him.

«Old Jianghu»

Xiao Na awakened after being pulled out from the fiery circle.

He gave a mean stare at Xian before he excused himself and vanished from the shadows.

This time, it's Xian Hua's turn. The pacifist, drunken, womanizer general who knew nothing of war and death...

"Please step inside the circle and let the music lead you one step closer to the Heavenly Dragon."

Xian Hua stepped inside the circle and just stood there. The music from the Gu Qin sounded very calm and beautiful. He closed his eyes and darkness enveloped all around him.

«Parallel Plane of Dragons»

"Welcome, Xian Hua... My child." The Heavenly dragon appeared in front of him but this time, the dragon changed it appearance into Luo Na.

"Luo Na?" He asked.

"You must love her so don't you? You saved her life once." The dragon said hovering in his side.

"Not just once, but many times." Xian Hua blushed in his answer. He laid his life for her countless of times.

"I know child. Now, please place your hands on the divine crystal."

The dragon envisaged as Luo Na took his hands and placed it on the divine crystal. As his hand touched the crystal, the dark realm glowed and the darkness faded away replaced by a golden sun and swirling golden clouds.

Everything is visible again. The Pagodas and the trees all around the realm appeared once again.

"You are the chosen one. Therefore I now give you my prowess."

The Heavenly Dragon descended from the heavens and struck itself inside Xian Hua.

He felt his heart burst and knelt in pain gripping his chest.

«Old Jianghu»

When Luo Na saw Xian knelt down inside the circle, she knew that she had to act fast.

She ran to where Xian was never minding if the music of the Divinator might hurt her ears. The others stayed away but she ran straight for it.

"Luo Na! It's dangerous!" Li An shouted but it's too late. Luo Na reached out her hands to grab Xian Hua out of the circle.

Her ears are bleeding severely but she never minded what would happen to her hearing. The most important thing for her is that...

Getting Xian out of the circle.

She pulled him out of the circle and the divinator stopped playing.

"Luo Na... Why?!" Xian Hua asked her and she replied with a weak voice before passing out.

"I don't want to lose you." She fell down unconsciously in his arms.

Xian Hua saw her bleeding ears and carried her back inside the palace.

"I warned her General..." Li An apologized to him and General Hua just nodded.

"The Heavenly Dragon told me something important but yet I couldn't do it... I..." Xian stuttered while explaining at King Fu.

King Fu just smiled and tapped his shoulder.

"She will heal once you share a bed. See you in the morning." King Fu Xiaoxing laughed as he made his way into the throne room leaving the others shunned.

"SHARE A BED?!"
