Chapter 2: Brewing

Our laughter quickly halted as we approached the meeting area. Here we go. We walked in to a room filled with people that were all silent. You could only hear the sound of our boots hitting the hard stone floor. We took our seats and shortly after our operations commander came in. This guy was a master at winning fights and wars and we had a huge one impending on our little nation. I zoned out for a lot of the meeting because I really only have one job. To protect my magikera. Kane. Basically magikera are mages but we had to be cool and use are own names or whatever. Peoples eye color now depicts what they are. Magikera all have green eyes and the brighter there are the more powerful they are. I had rare eyes that all the shields have. Gray eyes that are so light that they almost look white. There was some loner guy that actually had pure white iris's. He doesn't protect a mage in specific he just helps protect everyone. I don't even know his name just his ID number on the comms. Plus he was always kinda staring at me. Watching me during trainings and meetings and stuff. I was horribly ripped away from my daydreaming when they started talking about times. Suddenly back in the moment I was horrified to hear that the enemy managed to get within one days travel time from us undetected.
