Chapter 150: Becoming the seventh Grandmaster Alchemist of the continent
The master alchemists were very surprised by Max's words. The test for this was very simple and did not need any grandmasters to watch it. The ceremony of getting to a grandmaster alchemist was a little special. There were many mages that were nearing to the end of their lives. Most of the time the potion or the pill will be used on one of those people to give them a chance to get to a high mage level. If the breakthrough will succeed, then the new high mage will be the protector of the grandmaster alchemist. It was a good tradition to give the grandmaster alchemist the protection he needed. A loss of such person will be huge to the whole progress of the continent. Of course, in this situation where something not good for the humankind was happening there were a lot of people that were ready to kill a grandmaster alchemist for their own goals.
Adam looked at Max with a little surprise and said: "We will need to get a peak level mage before you take the test. Let's make it tomorrow morning."
Max did not mind and said: "That is fair enough. As for the peak mage that you will pick. He will need to sign an agreement with me that will bind him to me and listen to my every command. I am a high mage as well. If they refuse for such demand than there is no need to bring them here tomorrow."
Max knew about the tradition. A few people will come, and the alchemist will pick one of those people to get his alchemical product. All the peak mages that came should be ready for death because not everyone can get to a level of a high mage. If the foundation was lacking it was almost a sure death for such people. There were not a lot of high mages on the continent because of that reason. Max did have his few fails to progress and did not die because he had the steadiest base you could have, and his pills of a very high level gave him a level of safety in his breakthrough.
Adam sighed and nodded to Max and then left with all the rest of the master alchemists. He did not want such a thing to happen. He did not want that Max will get such power for himself. Most of those high mages were just protectors. Max wanted for such a person to be 100 percent loyal. Of course, he knew that people that got to a level of a high mage still needed a legacy to learn the nova skills. Even the teachings for the flight skills were not easy to get. It also took some time to learn them. Without it a high mage was just like a super strong mage. He could not do a lot against a real high mage with a legacy.
The new of the appearance of a new master alchemist spread all over the continent. It was something really big. Around one hundred master alchemists were not a big number if they needed to provide products for all the continent. Even if we talked about one of the empires, one hundred master alchemists were not much. There were also the news that this master alchemist will try his luck to get to a level of a grandmaster. It did cause some waves, but there were less than the fact that Max became a master alchemist. Becoming a grandmaster was not easy. There were only six people all over the continent in this role. Because of that not many people believed that this new master alchemist will achieve a breakthrough so fast. Alchemy was very hard thing to master.
Hours passed and the next day came. All the master alchemists saw Max enter the same room with different expressions. No one knew his real level of skill. No one tried to mock him now because if he would really become a grandmaster he could take revenge on those people really easily. There were also five people of a pretty old age that were looking at Max with hope and eagerness. Only one of them was looking at Max differently. It caused Max to pay more attention to this man. This person had a head full of white hair and he had also a pretty long white beard. He was already old, but Max did see the stature of a warrior in this man. He had bright blue eyes, and his look was calm and steady. Max also felt that this man had a very sturdy cultivation. He also wore the robe of the academy. He was some higher up from the order hall. The order hall was responsible for the order in the academy. All the people there were high level fighters for the troublemakers to not do anything unreasonable.
Adam started to speak and got Max's attention on him: "Master alchemist Max you will need to first make an alchemical product that can make the peak level mage to progress to a high mage level of at least low grade. After that you will choose your future protector and when both sides will sign the agreement you talked about the test will end. If the protector will be able to breakthrough than it will be a bonus for you."
Max nodded and said: "It will take some time."
He did not say anything else. Making a pill of such level was a hard process. It always exhausted him. He got more proficiency in making the pill in the last few days. He did more of array studies until now to get to a level when he could make teleportation arrays when he wanted, but now he came back and started making more alchemical products. Max took his time. He did not try to hurry. All the alchemists knew that such a process could even take days, but they did not mind. If Max was really a grandmaster alchemist than it will be a good chance for them to study something new and maybe also get closer to that level. If Max would fail than they would just leave for their own business. There was nothing they could do to Max. Max slowly refined all the needed materials. He used his fire and water magic precisely to make all the steps that the system instructed him in the simulation. Max was sweating and he even took a couple of times of rest to be sure that he would not make a mistake. Few hours already passed from the beginning of the pill creation. None of the people that were present did not know how much time it would take for Max to finish his pill, but they did not disturb him.
Max looked at the different materials that were condensing with his influence into a pill. Some of the alchemist that were paying attention stood up to take a closer look. Max said in his mind: 'Condense!'
After this there was a brilliant light with a lot of energy and life force concentrating into a bright red pill. All the people around gasped in amazement. It was not a pill that they were familiar with. It was a rare sight to behold. The pill was shining in a bright red light and sucking all the energy around it into itself.
After a short amount of time, it did condense into a solid form and fell into Max's hands. Max looked at the pill with pride and said: "This pill is called the elevation pill. It strengthens the body and the soul of the mage and then the breakthrough is initiated. It increases the chances of a breakthrough depending on how sturdy your cultivation is. The more stable base you have the more chances you have for a breakthrough."
Adam came over to Max with shining eyes and asked: "Can I examine it?"
Max just nodded. After that Adam entered the pill into the machine and now it was not only the amplification rate written, but also the type of the pill. Max was surprised that this pill was known. It wrote: 'Elevation pill. Grandmaster level. Amplification 60 times.'
All the people in the room were shocked. It was the day in which the Seventh Grandmaster Alchemist on the continent was born.
