Chapter 30: Midterm Break: Street Cred

The first few days back at home my mum insisted that I stayed at home and spend time with her and Jamal, and our grandma who lived above us. It was all fine and all, but I don't enjoy calmness. I was a man that needed action and adrenalin. And I needed my bros around me. Ty's call for a ride to his dads was the only thing breaking the routine. And the only reason my mum accepted was that she liked Ty. Not in any creepy way though. She just always praised how much of a good boy he was in her eyes.

On Friday thought she could no longer hold me back. Hip-Hop blasting from a ghetto blaster in the yard, two guys breakdancing to it like they were settling some score, three others sharing a jay in another corner, that was exactly like I remember this place. No one realized I was back here yet.

"Damn the guys are going to make eyes bro," Jamal said with the widest grin.
