Is today the day I fear? The day I prayed never to come? Will I be a beast today? Will I ever be able to control myself?

My mom had lied to her parents, saying she was going on a trip and would be back in a day. I wonder what my mom was thinking or what she was planning to do.

"Mom," I said as we both kept walking deep into the woods. I don't really understand, and I could see fear in her eyes.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

As I noticed she wasn't giving me the response I wanted, I pulled my hands away as I turned to look at her.

"Why can't you just tell me what's going on, mom? Why are you acting this way? Why can't you tell me so I will understand?"

I saw her staring at me, and just as she tried to hold me again, I moved back to create space between us.

"If you keep lying to me every time, mom, how will I be able to know what's wrong? How will I be able to understand what the heck is going on?"
