Chapter 1: Prologue: Reincarnation
Being your average teenager, I lived a boring life of procrastination. I slept, woke up, fulfilled my duty as a slave to society (also known as going to school), and then played until midnight before - all of a sudden - remembering the 5 page essay due tomorrow.
There was nothing to be said about me more than that... well... I had a great family and amazing friends but... nothing more?
I guess I sound a bit privileged compared to those who work all day, living the grind, but to my modern and weak mind, I was dying the best way possible. And by dying, I had always meant wasting my life away, until...
Truck-kun! I found myself hit by a truck, and here I was, waking up in an entirely new world.
Now, being an avid consumer of anime, manga, and novels, I didn't find the occurrence too surprising. After all, I was hit by a truck, and the rest was pretty standard.
As I wailed my baby arms around, I started to drool. I was thinking about every possible situation. Was I back on the same Earth? Or an identical? Or was I in some fantasy new world?
I planned to use my previous life's knowledge and do something. After all, even though the education system barely teaches anything needed in life, it wasn't too incompetent when it came to academics... sort of.
I could show off my knowledge as a baby and be a world treasure! I would certainly have enough money as, just by looking around, I knew my parents were loaded.
It was right then that I wondered, why haven't I seen my parents yet... or in fact, why haven't I seen a single soul? No caretakers either...
I looked all over until I found myself looking out the window... and what met me was a one-eyed, wolf-sized rat. I trembled in my small, unmoving body because... I was in the world of Versatile Mage.
