Chapter 27: wake up

[Zhang Wei] I awoke in Quo's embrace. It was a wonderful feeling, but I slid her off of me so I could sit up. She sleepily reached at my arm as she mumbled something unintelligible. I sighed as I propped myself up on the wall before allowing her to curl up by me once again. I stared down at Quo's sleepy face. "Cute…" I mused to myself. I played gently with her hair as I sat waiting for something to happen.

Finally, after a long time, Quo woke up. "Ehhhn Zhang… why is my hair all messed up?" I still continued to pet her head, now brushing instead.

"Sorry Quo!" I knew, that she knew, exactly what I had been doing. I leaned over and hugged her, bringing us both to the ground. Then I relaxed and laughed a little bit. "You know Quo," my voice came out in a calm tone, "I'm glad you stayed with me last night."

Quo just sighed and gently pushed me to the side so she could get up. We then just sat in silence for a while, leaning against each other till Jaku came with food for the morning.

Jaku brought portions for both Quo and I. While the food may not have been good, it could at least satisfy our hunger. "Thanks Jaku" we both have him a smile. Then he informed us of the big news. "Zhang, you will have an ancient democratic style trial in one week.

"Democratic!? How'd you manage that?"

"Well you see…" he continued to explain, his tone changing to a darker one. "They plan to rig it and give you a death sentence to discourage any future crimes." I was stunned. How could they just do this? "I believe though, that it's possible to get around this. Let me tell you my plan…"
