One guess who circulated that abominable leaflet. That disgusting piece of trash. 

"Your brother and Irina did this," she said to Dimitri, looking at Father Reyes with a pleading glance. "You have to believe me."

Several looks passed between Dimitri and Father Reyes, who gave her goosebumps. He looked like Nosferatu, except more elegant. And his church was called Nosferatu. And those black-hole eyes ...

He studied her for several long moments. An eternity. "I can tell when someone is lying," he said in a slow, deep voice. "There's something off about you."

"WHAT? Father, have you lost your mind?" Dimitri shouted.

Ariana planted her feet in the soft sand, sick of being pushed around. "There is nothing wrong with me. I'm not lying. Whatever this curse is, I don't know anything about it."
