As the day progressed, news about the upcoming Masquerade Ball spread like wildfire throughout Ashborne Academy. The school was abuzz with activity as students eagerly began transforming the halls and classrooms with decorations. The air was filled with a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation.
Everywhere Lyra looked, she saw students asking each other out to the ball in grand displays of affection and creativity. Some used elaborate essence-infused banners, while others performed stunning feats of alchemy to impress their potential dates. Lyra couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy as she watched her classmates pair off, wondering if anyone would ask her to the dance.
For a brief moment, her thoughts drifted to Elias, and she felt a flutter of hope in her chest. Maybe, just maybe, he would be the one to invite her to the Masquerade Ball. But she quickly pushed those thoughts aside, knowing that she had more pressing matters to attend to.

However, as soon as Lyra stepped through the doorway, it became clear that this was no ordinary place.

As Lyra stood in the entrance, taking in the incredible sight before her, a skeletal minion approached, its bones clacking together with each step. "Welcome to Astria Labs, the most advanced essence laboratory in all of Nocturnia," the minion said, its voice a raspy whisper. "You must be Lyra, the new researcher. Please, follow me."
Lyra's heart raced with excitement as she followed the minion down a long, winding hallway. She had heard whispers of Astria Labs before, rumors of the incredible discoveries and breakthroughs that had been made within its walls. And now, incredibly, she was about to become a part of that legacy.
At the end of the hallway, the minion stopped before a heavy wooden door, its surface inscribed with intricate alchemical symbols and equations. "Your class awaits," the minion said, gesturing for Lyra to enter. "Good luck, young alchemist. The world of alchemy will never be the same after today."
With a deep breath and a heart full of determination, Lyra reached out and grasped the handle of the door. She could feel the essence energy pulsing beneath her fingertips, a tangible reminder of the incredible power that lay just beyond the threshold.
