She stepped closer, each movement causing the temperature to plummet further. The air crackled with the intensity of Aurora's power, and Lyra felt the icy tendrils of fear grip her heart.
"It occurred to me," Aurora continued, her words dripping with venom, "that the alchemist Dante brought to our side – you – are the one responsible for my mother's death. She was the strongest vampire within the Nightfall Mafia, highly revered for her unmatched powers."
