Chapter 39: On Your Mark
Lyra, Clara, and Lilith entered the auditorium, their senses heightened by the electric atmosphere that filled the room. The principal and the Essence training coach stood at the front, their presence commanding the attention of every student gathered.
As Lyra's eyes scanned the crowd, she noticed familiar faces among the sea of eager competitors. Adrian, the brooding Sanguine with a mysterious aura, stood off to one side, his gaze intense and focused. Elias, her loyal friend and partner in alchemy, offered her a reassuring smile from across the room. And there was Scarlet, the girl from her morning run, looking fierce and determined in her combat gear.
While the principal and coach discussed the rules of the tournament, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and the consequences of excessive violence, Lyra suddenly felt the weight of an intense gaze upon her. She turned, her eyes locking with those of a tall, upper-classman with a striking presence.
He wore a modified uniform, the subtle purple accents adding an air of elegance and individuality to his appearance. Lost in her thoughts, Lyra almost missed the excited whisper from Clara beside her. "Did you hear that, Lyra? It's a trio team challenge! What are the odds?"
Lyra blinked, snapping out of her reverie and focusing on her friend's words. A trio team challenge? The prospect of competing alongside Clara and Lilith filled her with a surge of excitement and determination.

As the principal and coach finished outlining the rules and structure of the tournament, Lyra couldn't help but steal another glance at the mysterious upper-classman. There was something about him, a sense of power and intrigue that drew her in like a moth to a flame.
