Chapter 97: Nachtschatten
As Lyra settled into her lunar break dorm, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Having her own space, free from distractions and the constant bustle of campus life, would allow her to focus all her energy on unraveling the mystery of the Nightfall Mafia.
Without wasting any time, Lyra hurried to the secret hideout of the resistance club, eager to learn more about the latest developments in their investigation. As she entered the familiar space, her heart leapt at the sight of Elias, healthy and whole, standing before her.
Elias's face lit up as he saw Lyra, and he pulled her into a warm, embracing hug. "Lyra, it's so good to see you. How are you holding up?"
Lyra smiled, the warmth of Elias's embrace chasing away the lingering shadows of worry and doubt. "I'm doing better now, seeing you up and about. And I have some good news - I got on-campus housing for the lunar break. I'll be here, close by, ready to help in any way I can."
Elias's eyes widened in surprise and delight. "Wow, Lyra, that's incredible! I couldn't ask for better news. With my bike, I live just off campus, so we'll be able to work together closely."
As they caught up, Cherry entered the room, a smile on her face as she saw Lyra. She pulled the young alchemist into a hug, her voice filled with gratitude. "Lyra, we can't thank you enough for saving Elias. What you did... it was nothing short of heroic."
But Cherry's expression soon turned serious, and she motioned for Lyra and Elias to follow her into a quieter room. Once they were settled, Cherry began to explain the latest developments in their investigation.
"We've identified some key players in the Nightfall Mafia," she said, her voice low and urgent. "And we've learned that there's going to be a huge deal going down between several mafias at the Nachtschatten."
Lyra's brow furrowed in confusion. "The Nachtschatten? What's that?"
Cherry leaned forward, her eyes intense. "It's one of the biggest nightclubs in Ashborne. Known for its A-list attendees and its reputation as a hub for all sorts of illegal activities. If the Nightfall Mafia is making a move there, it's going to be big."
Lyra's mind raced with the implications of this new information. "So, what's our plan? How do we stop them?"
Cherry's lips curved into a determined smile. "We're going to break in and destroy all the batches of the Euphoria tonic. Cut off their supply at the source, and deal a crippling blow to their operation."
Lyra felt a thrill of excitement and fear course through her at the prospect of such a daring mission. She knew that infiltrating the Nachtschatten would be no easy feat, and that they would be putting themselves directly in the crosshairs of some of the most dangerous criminals in Ashborne.
But she also knew that they had no choice. The Nightfall Mafia's reign of terror had to be stopped, and the Euphoria tonic had to be destroyed before it could claim any more innocent lives.
As Lyra looked around the room at the determined faces of her friends and allies, she felt a swell of pride and purpose. They were the resistance, the last line of defense against the darkness that threatened to consume their world. And with Elias by her side and the power of alchemy at her fingertips, Lyra knew that they could face anything.
