Chapter 45: Havoc
Where Clara had been fighting, they were greeted by a scene of utter chaos. The ground was littered with the smoking remains of dozens of traps, and the air was thick with the tang of ozone and burnt metal. In the center of it all stood Clara, her body surrounded by a thin, shimmering aura that seemed to absorb the brunt of the damage from the exploding traps.
"Clara!" Lyra exclaimed, relief washing over her as she realized that her friend was still standing. "You're using Rendan, aren't you? The basic Essence technique that utilizes your own energy to minimize damage?"
Clara nodded, her face a mask of grim determination as she faced off against the trap-wielding woman. The enemy Essence user seemed taken aback by Clara's resilience, her eyes widening in surprise as she assessed the situation.
"I wasn't expecting someone so proficient in the ways of Essence," the woman admitted, her voice tinged with a grudging respect. "I am Vera, master of traps and explosives. But even your Rendan technique won't save you from what I have in store."
Clara's eyes narrowed, a fierce grin spreading across her face as she cracked her knuckles. "I'm just getting started," she declared, her voice ringing out across the battlefield. "You haven't seen anything yet!"
With a mighty punch to the ground, Clara unleashed a shockwave of kinetic energy that rippled outwards, triggering a chain reaction of explosions among Vera's carefully laid traps.
