Chapter 23: Essence Training pt 2
During the Essence training class, Elias stepped forward to demonstrate his unique ability. With a focused expression, he extended his hand towards a nearby tree, his Essence energy flowing from his fingertips. The wood began to shift and morph, responding to his will. In a matter of seconds, the tree branch transformed into a sturdy, intricately crafted axe.
The class watched in awe as Elias effortlessly wielded the wooden axe, its weight and balance perfectly suited to his grip. With another surge of Essence energy, the axe shifted and elongated, transforming into a sleek, deadly sword.
The professor, impressed by Elias's display, approached him with a curious expression. "Your wood manipulation ability is impressive, Elias," he remarked. "But with such a versatile technique, why limit yourself to creating only weapons?"
Elias smiled, his eyes glinting with a mix of pride and humility. "It's true that my ability could be used to create a wide range of objects," he admitted. "But I find that focusing on weapons allows me to hone my skills and create tools that I am intimately familiar with. It's a matter of personal preference and specialization."
The professor nodded, a look of understanding crossing his face. "And that, class, is a perfect example of an Essence system," he declared, turning to address the group. "By understanding your capabilities and limitations, you can tailor your technique to suit your strengths and interests. This self-awareness is key to achieving mastery and continual improvement."
As the professor continued his lecture, Lyra caught sight of a familiar figure walking by the training field. It was Morgana, the mysterious and alluring student she had encountered in the library. Morgana, noticing Lyra, raised a hand in a friendly wave, a warm smile gracing her lips.
Lyra, filled with a sudden rush of happiness, waved back enthusiastically. In that moment, she realized just how much her life had changed since arriving at Ashborne Academy. Not only had she begun to unravel the mysteries of her own Essence technique, but she had also forged meaningful friendships and connections with those around her.
As she watched Elias continue to demonstrate his wood manipulation abilities, Lyra felt a sense of belonging wash over her.
