Chapter 74: Encounter
As Lyra and Cherry continued their conversation, Elias entered the room, apologizing for not being able to greet Lyra when she first arrived. "I'm sorry I couldn't welcome you myself. I know our guys can be very loud and energetic," he said with a smile.
Elias then clarified the purpose of the resistance club. "The resistance club isn't just a group that hates Sanguines. We're a community committed to protecting all humans at Ashborne Academy."
He went on to discuss the upcoming masquerade ball, which was one of the biggest events of the year. "With that being said, the masquerade ball is almost here, and this is the time of year when Sanguines are most likely to prey on us."
Lyra, recalling their previous conversation, mentioned ghouls. Cherry, impressed by Lyra's knowledge of Sanguines, nodded in agreement.
Elias then brought up a specific concern. "On that note, we need to keep a closer eye on Adrian. This will lead you to your first mission."
Suddenly, Clara burst into the room, laughing and filled with excitement from the fun she had in the main gathering area. However, her laughter quickly faded as she heard Elias mention a mission. "Wait a minute, Elias. We just got here. We aren't joining your club that easily," she protested.
Lyra, however, had other plans. She interrupted Clara, saying, "I needed to talk to Adrian one-on-one anyway."
Clara looked at Lyra with surprise, not expecting her friend to be so eager to dive into the resistance club's activities. Elias, on the other hand, seemed pleased by Lyra's willingness to take on the task.
As the scene unfolded, it became clear that Lyra's curiosity and desire for answers were stronger than her initial hesitation. She knew that talking to Adrian could provide valuable insights into the Sanguine world and perhaps even shed light on the mystery surrounding her parents' deaths.
Clara, though still reluctant, couldn't help but admire Lyra's bravery and determination. She knew that her friend had been through so much, and if joining the resistance club could help Lyra find the closure she needed, then Clara would support her every step of the way.
