Chapter 2: Chapter 1: The Invasion
"It starts
With the unexpected loss
Of something dear"
There they were, two sisters escaping from the clutches of humans that betrayed them. One was named Emilia. She is 19 years old and is a good sister. She has long rose pink hair, her eye color is crimson, she wore black clothes with a scarlet colored cloak. Her sister Ruby is 17 and is quite an outgoing girl. She has the same crimson eye color as her sister, she has black hair, and her attire was similar but she doesn't wear a cloak.
Both were given orders by their parents to protect one of the last human cities on Earth. There were only 3 cities left because of an unknown species invading from outer space.
{Emilia's POV}
"Ruby wake up, come on we need to go, I sense them getting closer." She got up and we gathered the few things we had and began to move quickly. We took flight but only flew in low altitude so we could stay undetected from the aliens. "Why would they betray us after everything we did for them," she said with confusion. I want to know why myself but no reason came to mind.
"I don't know sis, we can't exactly stick around to find out why since they were trying to kill us," I said angrily. Truthfully we could have detained everyone within the council building but our powers were being dampened by some weird looking device. The only choice we had was to leave Valhalla and return home.
We stop and rest inside an abandoned ship at sea. Ruby put down her bag and weapon inside the bedroom we found, "pretty sure we're in a yacht sis." I shrug, "whatever it is we can use this huge boat to hide for a bit." A loud noise went off outside the boat. We both go outside cautiously to check what it was. We saw a giant mushroom cloud from the city we left. It was only a matter of time before the shockwave approached us. Both of us sprint to the bedroom and shut the door. The shockwave hit, the boat crashed into something that breached the main deck. The door broke down and water came flooding in. Ruby held the water in place with her telekinesis, "sis push it back!" I grab my scythe and swing it. The force of my swing sent most of the water outside.
Ruby picks up her weapon, "so much for taking a break." I pick up her bag and toss it to her, "yeah, we can't go to the main deck anymore so we'll have to create an escape route ourselves." Together we blast a hole through the wall. We fly out of the boat and to my surprise we were high up in the sky. I felt something ominous behind us, when I looked the boat began to decompose. "Crap this is bad," I grab Ruby's hand and descend.
"Ruby don't use your powers, get ready to hold your breath in a few seconds!" I look up, she nodded, for a brief moment I saw a human figure above the boat. I doubt a human, other then my family, can pull something like levitating a boat high up into the sky with ease. There was only one other species that could do such a thing and they are the aliens we are trying to survive from. We got underwater and swam away hoping we would stay undetected.
After a few minutes of swimming underwater we emerge and grab onto a log. I didn't see or feel that alien's presence for miles. "We should be able to fly back home now, I don't sense it's presence anymore." Ruby let out a sigh in relief, "it's been one close call after another." I smile slightly, "I'm just glad we're alive. Come on let's go home."
After a few hours of travel we finally made it back home to Ciro. It has been 4 long years since we have been in this city and from what I see not much has changed. At least now there were more guards patrolling the city. As we were walking through the slums, eyes were set on us. It's only natural since nobody recognized us.
We arrive at the gate of our home where two guards were stationed, "what business do you have with Lady Amira?" he asked. Ruby walks forward, "we are here to see our mother." The man's eyes widened, he gestured the guard behind him to open the gate. Both of them kneeled as we walked by, while approaching the garden others did the same. We got inside our manor, "wow this place looks different, look sis a red carpet just for us." I giggle, "pretty sure this was already here idiot." A woman at the front desk sprinted toward us with insane speed and hugged us both so damn hard we struggle to breath.
"My two girls are home safe and sound oh thank goodness! I don't know what I would do if only one of you came home or worst case scenario neither of you ever returning! That would hurt my heart so much I don't even want to think about it I'm just glad you're both finally home," she says loudly while squeezing the hell out of our souls. "I see you haven't changed a bit mom... please.. let go of us.. before you actually kill us.." Ruby said while gasping for air.
"oops sorry girls," mother said. After catching our breath for a few seconds we told mom what happened to us inside and outside of Valhalla city. She wasn't shocked at the news. She knew there was someone within the three cities planning to overthrow Ciro for about a year now. "You don't seem surprised mom, care to explain." She sighs and told us what has been going on for the past year. "Wait so this investigation on the coup has been going on for a year without us knowing?" Ruby said while eating donuts. I sat down and took a donut from the box, "Well we knew something was up when the councilman abruptly attacked us. Fortunately we left Valhalla in the nick of time, the aliens obliterated the entire city."
"I would have helped you two but your father wasn't back from Tokyo yet. When comms went down I feared the worst had happened to you three but I could not leave Ciro unprotected, all I could do was have faith," mom said with a sad tone in her voice. With a smile on my face I told her it was okay, I understood why she could not leave. She smiled and gave me and Ruby a kiss on the forehead.
{Ruby's POV}
After we finished our heartwarming reunion I went into the kitchen to throw the empty box of donuts in the trash. As I did that an earthquake began. I ran back to the lobby but didn't see mom or Emilia. I open the door to outside and saw meteors hitting the barrier protecting Ciro, "is nature angry at me for throwing away a box of donuts?" I saw mom and Emilia near the garden, the ground around them started to crack open and fast. "Mom sis get away from there the ground is breaking!" They both flew up and hovered above the garden when they heard me.
"They're here," mom said.
