Book I Chapter 38

Il Kwan is still in pain, but he could already move his body and has already regained consciousness. It is said that the medicine of the Urokai sect is truly effective in healing wounds. As long as it is not an instant death, then one can recover from any heavy wounds in just days.

Right now, as he stands up, he saw the giant Cabra lying not too far from him.

Then beside that giant creature sits a small figure.

When he saw that small figure lying unconscious beside the huge snake, his heart was immediately in a panic.

Il Kwan subconsciously pushes himself to rush to Wu Jin's side and kneels on the ground to check his condition.

He did not see any wounds on his body except for the cuts on his forearm and the greenish liquid on them.

"Poison… He… he was poisoned…" he muttered as he quickly looks at the backpack on the side.

He knew that Wu Jin likes to bring things when going through the forest. He quickly rummages through the backpack while suppressing the feeling of pain in his chest.

He soon takes out a few bottles and combines them.

"This… This would… suppress the poison for a while…" he muttered and quickly applied them on his arm.

He then carefully feeds him a few pellets for his wounds.

Those pellets are for mortals which his mother has given to Wu Jin.

He then also takes a few pills and sat cross-legged beside Wu Jin to heal his wounds.

After a while, he opened his eyes and quickly looks at the large beast.

He walked to the head and saw the poisonous fangs of the beast. Without hesitation, he coated his hand with his Qi and extracted the poison from its fangs.

He then began to refine the poison from the fangs and soon a yellowish liquid could be seen floating in the air.

He checked it with his eyes glowing with his Qi.

This process is normally taught in the sect at the beginning before a disciple could venture out into the wild.

This process is how one can create anti-venom using Qi to control the biological agents.

But not many know this process as they think it is tedious and unnecessary. As cultivators, they could just use their Qi to expel the venom.

But since Il Kwan and Wu Jin's friendship developed, he has painstakingly learned this process to protect his friend's life someday.

After he was able to extract the anti-venom, he controlled his Qi and let the anti-venom enter the bloodstream of Wu Jin.

He heaved a sigh of relief after doing that and lays on the side while looking at his friend.

He could not avert his eyes as he looks at his unconscious figure.

"Why… Why should you be looking like this?" he muttered as he forcefully closes his eyes.

Due to the mental fatigue he felt, Il Kwan closes his eyes and leaned on the huge corpse of the Cabra.

Hyuna opened her eyes and saw a familiar ceiling. She wanted to stand up but she felt her body really weak as she looks at her forearms.

She could see that it was bandaged and she immediately panicked.

She touches her chest and felt that they are still flat so she heaves a sigh of relief.

Looking at the dark sky outside, she forcefully got seated and poured herself a cup of water on the side.

After taking a sip, she heaved another sigh.

"I… I guess we were saved…" she muttered.

Her ears suddenly pick up some movement outside and saw a few figures walking toward the room.

She saw that it was her auntie who is walking towards her, so she quickly got up.

"This child… why are you standing up? Go and rest for a while…" Madam Il gestured for Hyuna to rest.

"I'm doing fine auntie…" Hyuna said with a smile.

"Sigh… You two were a bit careless this time. But also… the sect is glad that the Cabra was killed. We did not know that such a dangerous beast has actually entered the forest…" Madam Il said as she walked to the side and takes a seat.

"Auntie… how… How about the rest of the disciples?" Hyuna asked.

A slight sigh escaped Madam Il's mouth as she lowered her gaze.

"A few of them survived, but some of them have lost their lives." She muttered while showing sadness in her eyes.

Seeing that Hyuna is showing sadness in her eyes, Madam Il showed a faint smile.

"Do not take it to heart… In this world, the strong would reign supreme. Though we always uphold justice and equality in the sect, this rule would always be present in this world. If you are weak, you will lose your life if you are not careful…"

Upon hearing those words, Hyuna showed a deep frown on her face.

"That is why… we always wanted you to grow stronger… That is why we taught you many things that are not privy to any mortal." She added.

"Hmm… I heard that it was you who killed that large beast." Madam Il suddenly showed a proud smile on her face.

Hyuna was a bit speechless upon hearing this as she did not know how to explain herself.

"Wu Jin… I'm proud of you." She added with an elated smile.

"Thank you… Mother." Hyuna said.

When Madam Il heard those words, she could not help but felt tears welling in the corner of her eyes.

It has been too long since they adopted the child and he would never call her his mother. But now that he suddenly called her his mother, she felt really happy.

She stood up and walk closer then hugs Hyuna.

Hyuna could not help but snuggle into that warm embrace and suddenly remembers her mother whom she had lost.

After a few minutes, Madam Il lightly pushes Hyuna away and looks at her face while wiping the tears that seem to have suddenly appeared in Hyuna's eyes.

"That is enough, are you really fine now?" Madam Il asked while checking her wounds.

"Your… father… wanted to see you." She said with a teasing smile.

Hyuna nodded her head and walked to the dresser and changes her robe.

The two enter the main courtyard and saw that there are a few people inside.

A slightly boisterous noise could be heard inside the main hall as a few elders are inside.

When they saw Madam Il entering the hall with a handsome young man in tow, everyone turned silent.

"Ah… Is Little Jin awake already?" Il San Joon suddenly asked with a big smile on his face.

A few inner sect disciples that are inside the hall, look at each other and began to whisper while their eyes are glued on Hyuna's figure.

"He is the one that defeated that savage beast, right?"

"I heard that he just delivered the last blow, it was not really him…"

"Yeah, how could a mere mortal defeat a savage beast?"

"No… You guys don't know but it was Gwan Jaeho that delivered the attack that killed the snake… That guy is just claiming the spoils of war of others."

The Inner Sect disciples look at Hyuna with jealous eyes, but she did not care. She went to see her uncle, so she did not mind those scathing words.

As a scribe in the inner sect, she would always receive those loathing eyes when coming and going. So she is already used to such treatment from those in the inner sect who see themselves as higher than others.

But of course, not all of them are like this. Actually, a couple of them look at Hyuna while nodding their head with a smile.

Hyuna nodded her head in response to those people.

She then walked beside her uncle who is smiling at her.

"How are your wounds?" Il San Joon asked with a smile.

"I'm doing fine… uncle." She said while cupping her hands and then bowed her head in front of the rest of the elders of the sect.

"Sigh… A promising mortal, just a pity… it's just a pity…" an elder sighed.

Every time he sees, Hyuna, he would always sighs while looking at her with deep regret in his eyes.

"Young brat… is it true that you were the one who killed the giant Cabra?" a middle-aged elder that Hyuna did not know suddenly asked.

Hyuna was a bit taken aback at the aura that this elder is exuding.

She did not know how to reply as his aura seem to have stifled her reaction.

Even her breathing became a bit rough as she is having a hard time controlling her body.

Large beads of sweat began to cover her body at this instant and she did not know what to say or do. It seems that the elder is trying to do something.

"See that… How could a mere mortal defeat a savage beast?" the middle-aged elder pointed at Hyuna.

"I only sent a small portion of my killing intent and he is already frozen. How much more will a giant Cabra who is already a savage beast? What they are claiming is just a big fat lie." He added with a snort.

Everyone has nothing to say in this argument. The inner sect disciples who doubted Hyuna showed sneers on their faces as if saying that what they were thinking was the truth.

"So now you wanted to give him a gift? For what? For tricking us?" the middle-aged elder suddenly said in annoyance while looking at Il San Joon.

He then glared at Hyuna and she felt her body weighing really heavy.

The venom in her veins has been purged but the damage it has caused in her internal organs has not yet fully healed, so how could she feel well when she was suddenly assaulted by such pressure?

Sensing that Wu Jin could be in danger, Il San Joon suddenly uses his own pressure to dissipate the strong force of that elder.

"Haha… Then, I will let my adoptive son repent for such blunder…" Il San Joon did not want trouble, so he lowered himself.

This annoyed his wife, Mi Jin-ah, as she snorted and grabs Hyuna's arm, and quickly left the hall.

Everyone was all dumbfounded at this scene.
