Chapter 74: Shattered

Matteo already had an inkling that something was going to happen when Rosalie hugged him earlier in the morning and demanded that she go to school.

If she didn't confront Greta, the latter would continue to bait him with uncertainty about Rosalie's absence.

His gut told him that this time, she was gone for good.

He sat in the living room, where he'd been for the past five hours, unmoving, with a little box in his hand and her phone, which he found lying on the ground.

He had gone through her phone. He didn't even have to find the fact that his name was her password cute. He had seen her notes, her rough plan on how to escape. She sounded lost and clueless in the texts, but now she was gone, and she was probably facing it all alone. That shattered his heart more than it had already been broken.
