Chapter 35: Career Suicide

Rosalie felt weak in her knees and lost her balance. Matteo was quick to catch her.

"Why didn't I ever think of that for the past eight years?" Even though she felt her mother was a drunk and a bad example, she never thought she could be a murderer. "No, it's definitely not that. My mom can't kill a person."

"I won't push that idea, but be wary from this moment. If you sense anything weird, run, run far away."

"Hmmm," she nodded. "Thanks...for today," she whispered, not yet recovering from the shock of the revelation.

Matteo checked the time; it was 7:17 pm. "Let's take a taxi to your house. It'll be faster that way."

"No, I shouldn't burden you more."

"You're not a burden, and I don't pity you," he reiterated, seeing that she was now sober. "You look just as beautiful with your hair up, and the scar isn't as visible as you think. You sing beautifully too."
