Chapter 29: Past Troubles
Sometimes keeping things from others is a benefit, especially when it's this type of information. Being a natural witch meant many things, one of them being that you become a target for power hungry witches. Lucien wasn't always attracted to power, but what changed his mind?

Lucien was about age five and Jack would be around age ten. Jack became aware of his mother's betrayal to the family, but tried not to let his unease show. Little Lucien was barely old enough to understand and was told aunty died giving birth. The truth was much more complex and too much for a young child to grasp.
Jack only found out cause he was curious and a serious troublemaker. Jack was always mischievous, but hardly ever got caught. With his abilities, he was able to sneak into Wes' office and read through coven documents. In the documents he found the truth about how his mother died and how he came to be the eldest son of Wes.
"...Selina said she wants nothing to do with the coven and claims to be in love with the non magical man. According to her, she is with child and will return to the family with her husband and child ONLY if the coven would accept this man. After researching the man, we found disturbing news. He is the head of the Finch coven, our sworn enemy. We must save Selina before she is used and abused by these thieves. She doesn't seem to know that her lover is a powerful warlock, but it's apparent he knows who she is and plans to exploit her....."
The rest of the reports were boring and useless until he found a report dated about a month after he was born.
"Selina is now aware of the identity of her new husband and warned me to not try to fight. She claims that they are incredibly tricky and strong. She fears for our small coven and is ashamed she was fooled for so long. According to her, they will be hunting down natural witches to use their abilities to further advance the Finch coven. I could sense the fear in her voice and even see it in her eyes. She then asked me to create a will for her, in order to ensure her son's wellbeing. She fears that Mr. Finch will harm their son and she wants me to adopt the child if she were to ever die..."
Jack couldn't read anymore as his emotions were too high. He only realized it after seeing many objects in the room flying crazily through the air. In that moment he felt as if everything in him was crazily flying, like the objects around him. Trying to calm his emotions he quickly escaped the office and ran directly into Lucien.
Lucien was knocked to the ground with an odd expression plastered on his face. Jack was scared he hurt him and quickly picked up his 'brother' to check on his condition. Little did Jack know this was Lucien's first mind reading experience and also his first premonition. From the brief touching they did poor little Lucien not only knew things that a five year old shouldn't, but he also saw it like he was there watching it.
He saw his aunt Selina, as beautiful as a spring day, fearfully running with a baby in her arms. Clouds were building behind her and lightning was getting closer. The closer she got to her brother (Wes) the stronger the storm behind her became. Before anyone could react the storm had made it to them. The fear of dying evident on her delicate face. Lightning struck 100 feet from where she was located and she screamed a blood curdling scream. "Wes! Hurry take Jack!" Wes ran as fast as his legs would allow him, but due to the mud and wind, he fell.
At that moment Selina threw the baby into the air and encircled him in a warm golden light. After saying her wishes and blessings for her son, she shot the ball into Wes' lap. As soon as he realized what he was holding, he looked toward his sister. She was crying and muttering softly to herself when she yelled out, "Look after him and yourself. I love you!" Right when she said you a lighting bolt struck directly on her, but instead of it burning her it acted oddly. It looked like the lightning was absorbing her life force.
Lucien snapped out of the horrific scene and stared blankly at Jack. How is he supposed to face his brother when he knows this deep secret. His little mind didn't think about Jack knowing nor did it think he should know. That's when he started crying and Wes showed up.
