Chapter 144: I Like You

Damon picked at his food as he watched Jessica, whose attention was focused on Emily, as usual, during dinner.

He couldn't help but wonder why she was acting like nothing had happened earlier and had returned to her default polite mode.

"Jessica," he called, and she looked at him.

"Yes, Mr. Williams?" She asked, her voice dripping with politeness.

Damon chuckled involuntarily. "Have you ever heard the saying,' The enemy of my enemy is my friend?'" he asked, and she raised a brow.

"Yes, sir," she said, wondering where that was coming from and where he was driving to.

"Doesn't that translate to the friend of my friend is my friend?" He asked, and Jessica's lips twitched in amusement.

"I don't know. Maybe," she said, waiting for him to continue.

"Since Hunter is my best friend, and he also happens to be your friend, doesn't that make me your friend, too?" He asked, and she resisted the urge to laugh at his logic.
