Chapter 38: He Left Already?

Delilah woke up with a scowl etched across her face. A dull ache throbbed behind her eyes, an evidence of the restless night spent tossing and turning.

Her mind, foggy with exhaustion, replayed the events of the previous night, and she cursed Hunter for stealing her peace of mind.

She had barely slept, tossing and turning as the memory of his kiss haunted her dreams. Every time she closed her eyelids, the image of Hunter's face, the heat of his kiss, would flash behind them, chasing away sleep.

Groaning, she dragged herself out of bed, feeling the weight of her sleepless night settle in her bones.

She glanced at the clock before shuffling towards the bathroom to go freshen up, Jessica stirred and turned to her. "D, are you okay?" Jessica's voice was gentle, filled with concern.

"I'm fine," Delilah snapped, instantly regretting her harsh tone. She forced a smile as she turned to see her sister's worried expression.
