I got up from the couch and ran to the kitchen. He wasn’t there. I then made my way to the bedroom, with Carmen and Kevin close behind me. Angel wasn’t there either. Carmen ran to the closet and opened the door. Her hopeful face sank when she didn’t see him there either.
I made my way to the bathroom and flung open the door. I was motionless. Carmen and Kevin came up from behind and suddenly stood still. We were all staring at Angel, huddled on the floor, the way he was when I first found him.
“Oh, thank God, you are okay, we were so worried,” I said while breathing a sigh of relief.
“You were worried? The light was coming for me, that’s why I ran to hide. But it found its way in here. I really thought that I was going to leave this world forever.”
Carmen made her way past me and sat down beside Angel, then placed her arms around him.
