Chapter 13: Accursed Demon, Part 3

With rapid speed, the demon sidesteps the swing and counterattack with its claws, dodging the Devilbreaker. Its smile broadens a little, as though it is pleased with Yose's blow. It strikes back with one of its razor-sharp claws, launching a lightning-fast attack of its own. Yose's arm is cut in this attack, and the devilbreaker is broken into pieces. "Enfoure listen to me! You have to go and find Zelah and Cali, I will distract the demon. I cannot die, go find them and get out of here. When you do so, give me a signal!!" Yose yells. Enfoure nods, summons his shadows to find where Zelah and Cali are and begins to run to the entrance of the cavern. Yose begins to speak from inside. Asura, listen to me. Help me out in this situation."I refuse. Why would I help you save your friends? It doesn't benefit me at all while I want to kill them all." Asura continues, "It's up to you if you want to switch and let me take over your body but I am declaring right now. I'll go kill Enfoure and others rather than this demon right here."

I won't let that happen, Asura. "I thought so too but don't get too distracted by me, your friends can die the moment you expect it the least." Right after this, the demon fires off a beam attack right where Enfoure is running. Yose gets in the way last second to take the hit instead. He hits the wall nearby and falls to the ground, getting up immediately. Argh...I have to keep holding him inside this cavern until Enfoure and others leave. Despite the pain and numbness he is feeling in his body, Yose stands up firmly, determined to protect his friends. He looks up at the demon and meets its gaze, unafraid despite the situation he is in. Yose feels a rush of adrenaline flow through his whole body, as if to encourage him to fight against all odds. "Come on! Come at me! I'm not afraid of you!" he shouts. The demon grins even further, and then suddenly charges towards Yose. The demon launches a series of quick claw attacks, moving so fast that it's hard to track its movements. Yose manages to sidestep and block most of the claws, but he is unable to avoid them all, taking several deep scratches to his body. However, he doesn't let these scratches deter him, instead using them to fuel his rage and focus on the battle. The demon grins, seemingly enjoying the fight now that it has someone who can actually challenge it. Headmistress Micha was right. If I cannot protect my friends, only one to blame would be my own weakness. I don't care about demon and curse ranks or anything like that. If I lose consciousness here, Asura will be unleashed while there are not a single person that could stop him. If I don't stop this threat in front of me, who will?

Yose takes a deep breath and quickly looks at his remaining limbs. My left arm is gone, my pointing finger and thumb is missing in my right hand. Yose then begins to walk to the demon in front of him. According to Teacher Yagami, my body only heals in two conditions. I have to be unconscious or Asura has to be the one using my body. But what if there's another possibility? One in which I can use its healing abilities when I am neither unconscious nor under the control of Asura? The only way to find out would be to test it out. Yose is filled with a newfound determination as he walks towards the demon, determined to find out if his theory is true. We share the same body, we should be sharing the life-force coursing through my body too. Teacher Yagami didn't get to explain how life-force works yet, I guess I have to force myself to learn. And with that, Yose can feel the life-force of Asura inside his body surging through his veins, as if he is being guided by an unseen force. He directs this energy towards the wounds on his body, focusing on them and willing them to heal. Slowly but surely, the wounds begin to knit together and close up, the damaged tissues being remade and restored to their original state. The power of the demigod allows Yose to transcend beyond his physical limitations, allowing his body to heal itself without rest or time. Yose feels an intense burst of energy and power as this process takes place.
"Oh, the foolish arrogance of this child." Asura responds inside his head. "He thinks he can just will himself into healing? And he says he won't allow me to come out and take control of his body?" Asura's tone is filled with disdain and mockery, but there is also a tinge of curiosity in his voice, as if he wants to see how far this will go. He continues "This power has been bestowed upon you thanks to me, but you think you can use it at your own discretion? I am Asura, a divine being who has walked this world for eons. You, a lowly insect, do not have the right to deny me anything." Asura continues, "I am the one who decides when we switch, not you. If you are going to use this power, it will be on my terms. Not yours. Yose responds, I refuse, I know you will try and make me a slave of yours through your terms. Won't happen." Asura laughs mockingly and responds, "You can try to make do without it, and see how well you fare against this demon."
Yose looks at the demon in front of him and speaks, "Looks like you and I got a round 2 to settle."

He then rushes at the demon with his newfound power, the demon also rushing to him.

"There! My shadows finally spotted where Zelah and Cali are!" Enfoure speaks to himself.
