Chapter 41: Chapter 41: A Different Language

The city appears serene. Sun glistens on the stone. Merry folk walk about the streets. As I approach the guards of Jalokivi, I notice their distinct features. In addition to otherworldly tones, the folk have horns and tails. I refrain from tilting my head in confusion. Their vibrant colors strike my curiosity. The guard to the right is violet while the other has skin that shines blue. 'What are they?' my mind asks with wonder.

"Hello," I greet with a smile. "I'm a traveler and I seek refuge from the wilderness."

The two guards tilt their heads in unison. The blue one whispers to the other. After nodding his head, the purple turns his red eyes to mine.

"Puhutko Mystiikka?" the guard asks.

I repeat his words without understanding their meaning. 'It's strange, they don't seem to speak common tongue.' I rub my head. With a sigh, I search for a means of communication. I drop my stick and prepare to make hand gestures.
