Chapter 70: BACK UP PLAN

Autumn's words rang loud in my mind, and I felt that I needed to consult someone who could offer him an outside perspective—someone who was wise, pragmatic, and not entangled in the political web he found himself in.

I picked up the phone and dialed Joe's number. Joe Thompson, Deputy Commissioner of Police, and a long-time friend was someone trusted implicitly. We had shared many discussions over the years, but this was perhaps one of the most personal and delicate topics I would ever bring up.

The phone rang a few times before Joe answered, his voice coming through with a hint of surprise. "Liam? What's up?"

"Joe, I need your advice," my voice heavy with fatigue. "Can you meet me? I'm studying."

"Sure, I can come by in about an hour. Is everything alright?" Joe asked, his tone growing concerned.
