With the death of the inquisition, a gloomy atmosphere had fallen over the Castle of Kufstein. His family was not immediately aware of the fact that Berengar had just slapped the Church in its face and denied its authority in his family's lands. Adela was the first to find out about such a thing; having heard the gunshots from outside, she rushed to the Great Hall, where she checked to see if Berengar was uninjured.
When she arrived she witnessed the scene of Berengar grasping onto Father Antonio's shoulder and staring at the priest with a cold and murderous gaze. Adela was unaccustomed with the ruthless expression on Berengar's face, for she had never before witnessed his wrath. This was not the gentle smile and loving eyes he showed to his loved ones.
People have been asking about the Baronies population size. I probably should have clarified it much earlier when I started writing its actual size. The Barony of Kufstein in this story essentially comprises the lands of the Kufstein District in Modern Austria; after doing some research, a territory of about 375 sq mi could sustain anywhere from 18,000 - 24,000 people during the medieval period. I decided to make the population in the middle of that range and say it is 20,000. So I will go back and edit one of the earlier chapters when I explain its size to contain that information.
